We all have one era which we love the most, my question is, which one is yours?

Personally, mine's the industrial Era, that's when making a civ really starts to pay off, it's when you get the good govts(besides demo) and when war involves a bit more strategy.

On a side point, do you change your title in the begining of the game?(instead of King, emperor) I change it to grand unifier when i'm up for conquest, but i leave the rest the way it is when it comes to other types of victoties.

My fav era would have be the industrial. All the hard work in the earlier eras is starting to pay off. Cities begin to develop into real industrial and commercial powerhouses thanks to railroads, hospitals, factories and power plants. And hopefully by this stage I've got an unassailable lead over the AIs!

They each have their own charm. I get really good in the Industrial era, but I find it's usually tense in the Middle ages. Hard to say which way things will go.

Usually I prefer the early game to the late, when everything is new and you're not quite sure which way things will go. I usually know by the end of the Middle ages which way my game will go.

I like the stone age most.
Exploration, finding civilizations, popping goody huts, expanding, waging early wars, building infrastructure - there are so many tactical aspects during this era, and I really love it :D

I will probably eat my words when the poll gets more participants, but the fact that nobody picked the modern age seems to point to the annoyance of the huge modern age armies (and using a zillion planes), and the fact that the game is decided (for me half the time) by the modern age.

Middle Ages- Cavalry, Smith's Trading Company and Democracy [dance]

The stone age, because finally reaching the target location and pressing the B button is the very essence of civ!

The Ancient Age
- Ancient Age wars: a plus if have a stone age UU.
- Finding Goody Huts.
- Expanding and City Building.

Stone Age? Don't you mean Ancient Age?

I think the Middle Ages is the funnest. Knights kick butt, and then you get Cavalry!

Yep they are using stone age instead of ancient age as thats what it has been called in the poll...

Industrial age, railroads, MPPs, tanks, your civ finally comes together!

I find the end of the industrial age to be the climax of a game, after that it tails off. Probably because it's in the industrial age that I put my superiority beyond doubt and the big boom when you get railroads, hospitals and factories is always fun.

I like the early game where the map is mostly black. What you do in this age sets the tone and flavor for the whole game.

Industrial's the most fun for me. The Modern era kind of kills it, since you can build at the same pace as the emperor+ AI in most cities. (120spt is a Modern Armor per turn for the player, and sid-level AI). Nukes, on the other hand...

Ancient, without a doubt.

i like them all cos in each one of them differently , for ancient age i like when the war chariots or horseman appears i think it's a kind of a turning point in wars mostly , also the arrival of market places and courthouses that's a turning point in economy , as for middle ages , mostly i like banks for economy and knights or ansar warrior or rider, ...........etc. for wars depends which civilization i'm playing , that's also is a turning point in the game , for industrial age i would say certainly the arrival of tanks and fighters and bombers.....etc......... and how the world changes also the system of war strategy do change too, as for the modern ages i like the arrival of modern armor , they certainly play a get role in war on land also the missile arsenal ( icbm's, tactical nukes and cruise missiles) it's more of the missiles era . and yes air superiority does count a lot in this age as for economy i would go for offshore platform that do help , but mainly the modern age is more the finish scrathes that u missed earlier .

Modern Age!

The Modern age is simply the best era in the game. The ancient age is a long, harsh, and slow start into the exploration of the world. The middle ages is the defining of national borders, and the construction of infrastructure. The industrial ages finishes the infrastructure and prepares the cities and armies.

And then the modern ages: it's like the game explodes with excitement. Even the music becomes fast and rhythmic! After a quick and massive upgrade to my units, I conquer the air and the land (rarely the sea... stupid AI doesn't do many naval wars) with my huge armies. Even though it's only one era, I can usually conquer the entire map because of airports and railroads saving me countless turns.

Modern Age is the Best for me. Its the time for Peace. Mostly you have to build wonders and get your city more into the modern age. But this is the time for peace. There nearly no wars,no barbarines, also its a time to expand into other lands. There are alot of peacefully wonders. Like the united nations, also the apollo program. :king:
