  • btw does this get through the copyright barriers? If so, what impression does it give to a non-Spanish speaker?

    (there's a 1k character limit on VMs, I didn't know)
Depends on the tone, pitch, etc. of the voice. If you sing like Finntroll or Children of Bodom you might be singing a church hymn or a children's lullaby, it's still going to be horrible. Sing them same softly (always in an unintelligible tongue) and you get a soothing effect. Goes to show how hard translation can actually be. At least, I'm not studying any tonal languages.

Anything trying to translate from Finnish to English seems doomed to fail. Almighty Google messes up on, for example, 'on sun'. If mina=I and sina=you, and then mun=my, then… sun=your, right? But no. The bloody thing insists on translating 'noun on sun' as 'noun is the sun'. Even though it has 'auringo' as the translation for 'sun'. Aaarrgghghh!!! *brain asplode* Do you get the same IRL? I do when people come to me trying to get me to explain why this or that doesn't work in Spanish.
Hmmm, not bad, but it lacks some… punch. I still prefer Popeda (or Eppu, or both together). Good for relaxation though! :)
I clicked on your username instead of mine in the users viewing forum list while you were doing it and it showed you as "Subscribing to All Other Games" which I had completely forgotten was possible as I never used it.
Ah nice to know, although I probably won't ever use that feature since there isn't that much stuff in AoG as it is it isn't hard for me to keep up with especially since it is the only subforum I'm interested in.

EDIT: And yeah I set my birthdate to as old as I could.
Accidentally clicked on your name, I didn't know you could subscribe to a forum, does it send you e-mails for every post or just every thread?
No I hadn't! I've never been a Kaurismäki fan, now I have to wait until the movie is released here.
You've missed this here rave of mine.
The existence of Outi Mäenpää and Pamela Tola would dismiss such allegations against women… or do they?
Also, the fact that I can pilfer creative emoticons -whose names are banned by English-speaking autocensors- from Finnish forums contributes to my tolerance somewhat…
    I've read, um, this thing:

…the only way into the Warriors' Heaven of Valhalla was to fall in battle - to die the 'straw-death' (dying in bed) was the worst thing that could happen to a viking, ensuring him a one-way trip to Hel (while not hellish in the Christian sense, it was a cold land where fish was the only thing on the menu and the lady in charged looked like Harvey Dent on a bad day. So, Finland.)

Not sure I'm that much of a wannabe Finn.
What it was used for is finished. There is no reason to keep it.
I wans't sure if you could, if you can't don't worry. I'll contact The_J later.
'First horses pulling a waggon' actually sounds like a very badly translated Spanish saying… depictions of the Spanish language in American media always make me cringe, since it can be a really beautiful language.
There used to be an old forum game which consisted of every 'player' running a sentence through an automatic translation program, say which language it had been turned into and post the results. Eventually it'd return to the original language. Imagine what happene when auto-translators were even worse than now…
