Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to call up the task manager. Go to the second tab and look to see if anything is using up a lot of RAM.
Also, have you installed anything else recently?
Finally, run adware, spyware and virus scans to make sure something isn't eating your RAM on the sly.
1) Is there a point to having positive health/happiness in a city? Or is it good enough to keep it above 0.
2) Is it better to concentrate wonders into a single city or spread them out? I tried the latter in my last game and I seemed to get a lot fewer. Is there a guide to making great...
Yes, I'd say that is bad. Catapault is made available by construction which is a fairly early technology. Two questions - have you built a few workers to make improvements around those cities and are you cities increasing in population? If they aren't growing then either they don't have enough...
Go into your city screen and check to see that there are people working in those squares. If they aren't the cottages won't grow. Putting the mouse pointer over the tile should also tell you how many turns until they upgrade.
a) Is it worth turning off the option that tells workers not to build over existing improvements? Normally I wouldn't consider it, but in my last game I noticed that deer and pigs near my cities (but not within city radius) had forts built over them instead of the improvements they needed to be...
Great religious leaders have 3 main uses. The first is to build the special building for their particular religion. This can only be done in the holy city of that religion - you need to have founded the religion or have captured the city where it was founded. If you don't recall where a religion...
What is the appeal of spiritual for people? I generally only play on warlord level admittedly, but I only ever get 1 turn of anarchy and I very rarely change civics. Generally I only change them when a better one comes along or when I'm forced into war.
Does anyone else get the impression that random things in Civ 4 are heavily out of whack? I've played a few multiplayer games against my sister and certain things don't seem to work out evenly. Barbarians for example, when we have them turned on I get a small number coming at my cities from time...
1) What logic is the game using when it places those blue circles down to suggest good locations for a city? Most of the time I don't agree with it's logic as it suggests placing cities on desert squares or within range of other cities. Sometimes it suggests squares right next to where I think...
The smartness might depend on difficulty level. In the game we were just playing, a barbarian archer attacked one of my archers even though my archer was on a hill and across a river.
I thought about the great wall in the last game as well, but the English beat me to it. Is there a mod that...
