Hi there, Blitz! It's been a long time since we testplayed RFRE together with Pink and Captain Beaver, if you recall. Recently, despite the upcoming civ 5, I felt a kind of nostalgia for good old c3c and for RFRE which is my all time favourite mod. So I decided to check out what was new in...

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

If, for some reason you encounter an error with the labels (my game showed dec. instead of the actual gameyear), I've included two versions of labels.txt which you will find in the "text" folder of RFRE. Chose whichever works for you. Enjoy!

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Hello to you all after a very long break! I've missed you guys and RFRE too so I decided to make a small contribution as a return. So I playtested v.1.323 (the latest to my knowledge). Of course, playtesting was never only observation as intended so I couldn't help "improving" certain aspects...

Wars of the Mediterranean for c3c

No offense taken. If you do wish to download anyway (and have the patience as I initially split it into 3 parts for easier dl, but 3ddownloads version is one megafile now) the file path is already kept and easy to follow. Basically you just extract the main file into the scenarios folder and the...

Wars of the Mediterranean for c3c

I haven't heard of Age of the Republic. Is it good? (Unfortunatelly my gaming days are quite far apart from each other and mostly playing civ 4). I wouldn't really say orphan, Pink, but pretty much abandoned since more people favour either civ 4 or RFRE

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Do you guys think there's any way you can make that building worthwile at such a cost (5 gpt?). Maibe if the Academia would go obsolete (it does, doesn't it?)

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

By the Flavians most cities already have civitas. Pink and Blitz are desperatelly trying to increase research costs but are limited by the maximum 1000 so to make the player lose some money, the obsolete scholas seem the only way. It's the decadence of the empire that calls for it ;).

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Yes, I agree with the scholas becoming obsolete for all the reasons listed above. Bibliothecas already require civitas indeed and not scholas as I thought they should but it's better this way. Welcome aboard Keroro, seems we posted in the same time. Not a bad idea about the Greek cities...

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

As much as I'd agree with you, Stew, that the schola becoming obsolete doesn't make much sense, the truth is you don't have that many bibliothecas so the difference would be insignificant. Also, if you make the scholas obsolte, no city that doesn't yet have a bibliotheca won't be able to build...

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Well I suggested to Pink the Equites as it is now. Guilty as charged. Here it is. For some reason he favoured the lumberjack more. Another thing: how many of you have tried cIV before? Do you like the new combat mode? I think it's awfull! First you have a maximum of 3 hitpoints AFAIK. For...

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

To answer you again: it was fine: less locations and more frequency (The initial stats were fine, IMO). Btw the Castrum Foederati spawn Miles Alarius Germanicus, NOT Foederati, right? SO the player actually sees that unit and choses for himself weather to upgrade to the mounted unit or not...

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

I subscribe to NOT giving too many castra celtica. As usual the ballance would be in making the Greek castra spawn a lot fewer units (once every 20 or 25 turns) since they're so many. A SOD of auxiliaries is not so nice IMO. The Celtic ones, beeing fewer, should require maintenance but the Greek...

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Ok, 10 might be overdoing it :D. It was however ment to be for just a few turns. As you probably know by now I get many ideas "on spot". Most of them aren't worth implememnting but it has happened that some people liked those that I was too quick to disband ;). On very rare occasions, of course...

Rise and fall of the roman empire

It was on Easy :goodjob:. And it was on 1.21 so most of the late era handicaps were not yet existent.

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Ok, pink, pretty much sense again. But then again a 100gpt is nothing so the tribute is onlyfor flavor. Maibe there should be ten consecutive tributes, all requiring the previous one to be built. Then, after you build the last one you could scrap the 9 others and keep a minimum 100 gpt long term...
