You guys forgot to mention the other stuff it includes. Like tornadoes and volcanoes. Or getting clunker coal. Or the unseen bandits that raid your rice farm. Plus there are micro missions. Settle near mountains, or populate islands. Even the corporations have mini missions.

First off don't be lured in by resources. Put your city in a place where it will have lots of food, then let your culture border eventually cover the resource. It seems to work for me. Plus I think barbarians like to attack a new city with a lot of resources. Especially gems.

The coolest thing I've seen them do is attack my opponent on a LAN game. BWAAAAAHAHAHA!
