I knew the AI was bad, but this is ridiculous...

LOL That AI is in serious fail. Question is, why did you allow these nomads to continue right up until the 16th century?

    Uninstalling the latest patch

sending a letter of 'express' disapproval is all well and good. However, if you really don't like the game post patch, a letter isn't going to change the game - action is. Anyway, downloading a copy of the game is not a crime as long as you do not sell it on and you have a valid licence key...

From Cities to Civilians - Rethinking the definition of "Civilization"

I'm sure this game already exists. It sounds like something I've played before. Probably on facebook.

    Uninstalling the latest patch

i'm sure there's a way, but the thing is, if you do manage to remove it, the next time you run the game steam will just reinstall the patch again. Of course there is always an alternative. Find a torrent file and download a steam cracked version of the game. Since you've already bought the...

Looooong Games compared to Civ IV

for people that can beat the AI so easily, there's an answer - multiplayer.

"What do you want MOST from the next patch?"

oh and an option to play your own music through the game, like civ IV had.

"What do you want MOST from the next patch?"

temporary and permament alliances with the AI is the best suggestion for me to improve diplomacy - if a human player and and AI player sign an alliance, then it should be irrevokable unless there is deliberate (but non-warlike) aggression from one civ to another - for example attacking your...

    Upt?

having just reinstalled Civ IV and replayed a game, I've concluded after being attacked by 14 horse archers, 7 archers, and 6 spearmen in the same tile, that I prefer 1upt system in Civ 5.

    Proposal for late game iron

with regard to horses - you could also research the "animal sports" tech, leading to the "racetrack" building which would require several horses and generate a lot of revenue of gold (from gambling) in the industrial era - this could be extended to a 'bookmakers' in the modern era to generate...

    Idea to improve diplomacy: Alliances

It would definitely make for some interesting multiplayer games - imagine 4 smaller states allying to take on an overpowered Russia. But - shared victory, I don't know wether human players would go for it. Would probably have to be an optional condition of the game.

    Rate Civ V

I rated it an 8. Firstly because it improves on Civ IV in 2 good ways - the elimination of 'stacks of doom' - military armies all piled up on 1 tile, and strategy - while the above poster disagrees with the methods used to gain a victory, I find it an integral part of the game that I might be...

    Roads-Can I use them sparingly?

above post is correct - definitely try to connect all cities to the capital. In an 'all roads lead to rome' way - the trade bonus is usually worth more than the cost of the roads anyway.

    Steam - love or hate?

Steam only became a success on the back of Half Life. More cunning and despicable marketing strategy. "If you are in sales or marketing, kill yourself. I'm not trying to make a joke, just seriously, kill yourself" - The late, great, Bill Hicks.

    Steam - love or hate?

    Denouncing: Like -or- Don't Like

gotta say I don't really like it. but it definitely keeps you on your toes with the military, can't let up on building those advanced units, cos you just never know when the AI is going to stab you in the back. To be fair, I do it to them all the time too, so why not even up the playing field.

    Inca are Early-game, Game-breaking Psychopaths

lol got moderator action. Everyone else is calling the OP a noob also, I just condensed it down to leet. Apologies. Anyways, I'm currently getting my behind handed to by russia as Japan - they're in the future era and I'm still industrial. Level - King = I am a noob also.

Will this laptop work for me?

should work fine, if you can afford it though I'd upgrade to the i5 or i7 processors, far superior.

A massive glitch/error regarding map settings when i start a new game

I've had issues like that with the map also, have chosen "tiny islands" and "small continents" and been given one supercontinent. Very annoying because I usually play on marathon, and it takes around 2 hours of gameplay before you can even get exploring the coastline sometimes, particularly...

    Is my computer from MARS

To be fair, it sounds like your computer. Most of your issues seem to be RAM or graphics related. Please list your graphics card model and amount of RAM so people can verify that this is not the issue and then move on to potential solutions. Need to know how? Click start menu and...

    Video Issue

Update on this issue: managed to get the game running in 1920 x 1080 resolution, but still in windowed mode. I did this by modifying the text in the .ini graphic settings file, and then setting the file type to read only, this seemed to stop the game automatically changing the resolution to...
