Hulfgar's Modpacks - Industrial and Complete Edition

Wow. Just trying this, already feels a better game than vanilla. Only problem I've come across so far is that I landed on a ruins and didn't seem to gain anything from it (or what I had gained wasn't displayed) although that didn't happen the other times I landed on ruins. The other thing is...

    Can Somebody Mod Proper Roads

I can't disagree with that. However, his T-junctions in the examples he showed were largely unnecessary. E2a: unless of course he just built them to illustrate the graphical problem lol.

    Can Somebody Mod Proper Roads

Unlike in earlier civs, roads don't yield any bonuses other than to movement and trade (when connected with the capital). I have no idea why you've built roads leading to tile improvements..? All these extra roads will drain your resources for no real advantage other than to be able to reach...

How is AI difficulty level determined in Multiplayer?

I was wondering about this recently too. It doesn't matter whether it's AI or not. What would happen to human players if they each set those respective starting levels?

Why collective rule speeds up settlers training only in your capital?

I generally struggled as to define the role of my capital. It's the best place to build settlers/units/wonders/buildings over and above any other city. I will always build the barracks and armoury in my capital. The trade off I discovered long ago was to not really care about wonders. Apart from...

    Liberty Vs Tradition

I build early walls too. Defensively brilliant and no maintenance costs which is also a good early game manouvre. I guess I've played multiplayer too much to not involve a longsword rush; never really considered a different strategy when playing against the AI only. Are you playing above prince...

    Liberty Vs Tradition

Can you outline the benefits of that strategy? Only you're banking your policies (for ?) and i'm coming at you with rushed longswords... The reason why I rush Longswords is as much about defense as it is aggression.

    Struggles on civ 5

What is everyone's take on specialists then? Of late I've been building enough farms to allow at least enough to feed specialiss in my universities. They seem to be seldom mentioned in a lot of strategy threads. Are they worth it?

Pause MP game with turn timer?

Wait until a player quits and then the AI taking its turn should allow you enough time to visit your neighbour's bathroom and still have time for a cup of tea, should you desire either.

    Struggles on civ 5

Just to add the obvious that specialising cities in very small puppet driven empires denies you much needed and easily built national wonders. I guess most of the 'specialisation' is geared towards tile improvements as it may still be beneficial to have a workshop and library in all cities.

    Liberty Vs Tradition

I go direct to meritocracy via liberty. I have it timed roughly so that the tech that builds workshops is available and a great engineer will complete the great library which gives a free tech. If the great library has been built a great scientist will do the same with the loss of culture from...

    promotions question

But it still seems silly to have them upgrade to something where their modifiers become obsolete.

    Quitters

4 v 1 does seem very fishy. However I have managed to form alliances early game with players I've never met before. One occasion was when some guy was bulldozing city states and fully intended to continue sending his war machine through a player settled just to the south of me and then I'd...

    Quitters

Yeah, I suppose it's trickier to quit if you're part of some (un) official playing community where such behaviour is frowned upon by your peers. Where repeated transgressions could see you removed completely. I suppose I should get around to joining a league. Although I guess times will be more...

Players for New Epic Game Wanted

Cheers for the info. Although now I'm as confused as to how you pick up from where you left off in the second sitting as I don't recall a Load game option in MP either. :crazyeye:

    Quitters

I realise that some people will quit. In the real world we have jobs, partners, sleep and other demands and Civ is a time consuming game. There also seems to be little point in sitting there if you're getting trashed by a stronger opponent if you've other things you could be getting on with. It...

Me too, if viable. Also presumably it adds defence modifiers?

    promotions question

This is is something that annoys me and puts me off building archers. Besides in real world terms a rifle is actually a ranged weapon. It's just because the game engine classes rifles as mellee that you forfeit the modifiers. For consistency, crossbowmen etc should be upgraded into another...

    denouncing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On being denounced my first course of action is to denounce them back. Other civs suddenly come out of the woodwork to agree with you.
