    Prehistoric Era Revamp

Nobody knows for sure what social structures were 200,000 years ago, but I think that the concept of "harem" may not really apply to small bands of homo sapiens walking around in Africa. If you want another source of food, perhaps rename the current "harem" to 'food sharing"? And maybe add...

Single Player bugs and crashes v39 plus (SVN) - After the 20th of July 2019

Question: are pests supposed to stay even if their prerequisites are no longer currently present? The below city has been at size 6 for a few turns, but gophers (requires city size 14) are still there.

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

Maybe add a gold cost to civic changes? Makes sense. Or make it a player choice: 4 turns anarchy OR 2 turns anarchy but it costs more money.

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

In anarchy, both gold income and gold expenses are set to zero. Then again, in later eras there is so much gold players may not even notice a penalty. I do agree that anarchy is a boring mechanic. But I don't have a better idea for it.

    Suggestion: Marriage tradition

Marriage today has three major forms: 1) polygamy 2) arranged marriage 3) love marriage 1) Polygamy (e.g. islamic cultures) : One man marries multiple women. This leaves many men single, and they can be recruited for war or other mischief. Game effect: +military unit production, +crime 2)...

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

Apologies if I've insulted you. I have a mounting frustration with people (definitely not just you) who seem unable to read texts and observe pictures/screenshots and understand them fully and correctly, and it was just boiling over.

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

@Thunderbrd: I think the following happened: I have minor civs option on, I was still in early prehistoric (researching Cultural Identity), I attacked a wild Gharial somewhere in the field with a chaser unit, suddenly got a golden age, 600 gold, and more than a dozen free units (including a...

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

@Joseph: I think you are terribly confused about the situation. You skip or misinterpret a lot of the information I have posted and instead speculate wildly (and incorrectly). @Raxo: I play with "start as minor civs" on for immersion reasons. It is known that primitive hunter-gatherer...

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

@Joseph: yes start as minors on. I deleted my user setting folder. I have SVN 11032 . @Raxo: deity/nightmare. I suddenly received a bunch of free units in my capital. 8 military units, a great general, a captive and a stone age worker. See the screenshot. EDIT: I also got about 600 gold for free.

Hit a gharial, got a golden age, tons of free units!? WTF is this!?

I updated to latest SVN and started a new game. I attacked a gharial, got a golden age for free, then got tons of units for free. Also I went from a minor civ to a "real" civ. WTF? why the free units? I can't even afford their upkeep so I'll have to delete them. But worse, getting a large...

I can't get a different result from a goody hut on C2C, unlike on BTS, when I reload the game.

You can also change the option in-game. World builder -> (upper right) select game data in pulldown menu -> options -> select "new random seed on reload". Probably must be done before saving.

    V39 balance question

Probably. But I don't know for sure. I vaguely remember that Advanced Economy links inflation to some civics, like currency? But I disabled the option years ago after I read warning about the option negatively affecting performance. I think.

    V39 balance question

Inflation has been removed from the game. Which makes the money even more plentiful than it already was, by a large margin (except in early prehistoric). Inflation used to tick up just by turns played or date. Which can cause all kinds of balance issues depending on map size, game speed etc...

    Version 40 Design Cycle Plans

One of the things I don't like about PPIO is that some of its art assets clash with the general art style of the game. On the main screens, much of the graphics have very fine details, and the level of fine details is fairly consistent. Also the colors used aren't too contrasting. However...

    A game experience (SVN 10589-10686)

I've always played with Advanced Economy off as I heard years ago it was bad for performance, and unbalanced? Can't remember. It's a problem with balance-affecting options. Either you make them mostly irrelevant (flavor only) or they make balancing the game significantly more complex.

    A game experience (SVN 10589-10686)

Regarding money, this mod has always had a tendency to have too much of it. However, it seems that inflation has been turned off recently, which increases the money surplus by a lot. As a player, I wouldn't mind inflation being tied to tech level, e.g.. research sedentary lifestyle, get a...

    Balance Factors

I think I know why the money is more plentiful than ever. Inflation is still at zero at mid-ancient. A long time ago, inflation rose with the turn number. This was a bad idea, because tech speed can vary between games. Inflation became like a wave that was following you. If you outrun it (i.e...

    Balance Factors

Toffer90 gave a good explanation in the bug thread. If less than a third of civs have a tech, it's easy for TD to get rounded down to zero. If more than two-thirds of civs have a certain tech, the TD bonus is magnified. You don't have to have met all of those civs to get this effect.

    Balance Factors

Don't dist to palace and num cities depend on difficulty level? So you can increase these and perhaps other throttles on gold for higher difficulty level without penalizing the AI.
