    culture victory, cant do it

My only CV on Immortal was from going domination and getting bored at the end. Left the last enemy capital alone, surrounded by units, then invested in tourism until I overtook them. Bibor's thread has some good tips (not a guide, but I think super helpful)...

SQL - Combat Weapons, Art Define Help

Well, it just seems to default to the normal attack. Other properties, like VisKillStrength and the SoundOverrides, seem to work fine. I wonder if it requires overriding the animation files...I don't have the patience for that for such little gain, haha.

SQL - Combat Weapons, Art Define Help

You're right, but I had the idea of replacing ALL archer attacks with flaming arrows. But, copying the "FLAMING_ARROW" line into all Archer entries in the ArtDefine_UnitMemberCombatWeapons table doesn't seem to work...

SQL - Combat Weapons, Art Define Help

Does this table actually work? I attempted to change archers to always shoot flaming arrows with this table, but no effect.

    Modifying unit animations

I've been attempting to do something similar, but using the database, since it seems the artdefines XML files aren't used anymore in the latest patch. For example, I've been able to change the default Archer to include 3 Warrior figures using this: This is just a database update, instead...

    New Building/Unit Prereqs

In case you haven't figured this out yet, here's a way to do it: 1. In the Technologies table, set <Disable> to "true" for the tech 2. In the Civilization_FreeTechs table, grant your civ the free tech as usual You can test it out by starting a game as your civ - the tech tree should show it as...

    Modify upgrade costs?

Different question: It seems that you can enable units/buildings to be purchased with Faith without taking any Beliefs (like Holy Warriors) via the <RequiresFaithPurchaseEnabled> flag. However, if you do this, the unit/building will ALWAYS show up in the city Purchase menu. In other words, it...

    Modify upgrade costs?

Found the solution: There's a column in the "UnitPromotions" table called "UpgradeDiscount". Set it to a (large) negative integer and you can increase a specific unit's upgrade costs (of course, you have to assign the promotion to the unit). I missed it because I was assuming it was a unit...

    Modify upgrade costs?

Thanks for the response - good to know disabling units can be done another way. I think that may be a bit too "intrusive" for me, though! Just out of curiosity, would this mean the unit appears in the Build menu, but is grayed out? I suppose it's not a big deal, and the game probably wasn't...

    Modify upgrade costs?

Hello modders, Does anyone know of a way to modify the cost of a unit upgrade for a specific unit? Here's my overall goal: I want to create a unique unit upgrade progression Unit 1 -> Unit 2 -> Unit 3 where Unit 2 and Unit 3 are each unlocked by successively higher techs. That part...

    Ingame Editor

Thanks, DonQuiche. I guess this is probably a problem with my hardware set-up? I'm surprised nobody else is having the same issue... I personally would be happy if we had the option to use the "native" strategic view. The non-updating map is a little weird, but it only takes a reload, and I...

    Ingame Editor

Hi DonQuiche, I've been able to crash my game consistently when in IGE v.30 and v.31. Here are the exact steps I take: 1. Set up new game under IGE: Isabella, Pangaea, Standard, Emperor 2. Save game 3. Open IGE 4. Reveal map 5. Switch to Strategic View (F10) 6. Zoom all the way out and scroll...

    Letting AI spread?

I'm trying to get back into the game on Emperor. I usually go for domination wins, with Babylon for the early Academy to get rolling towards Education. It seems like the optimal strategy for me is to plant 4-5 cities early, then develop them and puppet my neighbors. My last game, I was...

    Having trouble with Emperor difficulty

This thread has been interesting to me since I'm coming back after a long hiatus. Last time I played, I think ICS was the flavor of the month. I've started a few Emperor games (continents and pangaea), all as Babylon, and I've been trying to avoid some of the mistakes here. I've also found...

what do you think of the new longsword?

When did you get Steel in your latest game? Just curious, as I haven't started a new game since the patch. Btw, you're a brave man for playing with those specs. My last box was almost identical to yours, and I found it intolerable. :(

    New academy

All strategic resources require a tech to discover. I think this change was just to make sure you don't get screwed if you settle a GP improvement on a tile that later turns out to have a strategic resource. I don't think it was intended to make GP improvements a substitute for the regular...

what do you think of the new longsword?

I think this is a change in the right direction. It theoretically gives a reason to target Gunpowder (besides opening Renaissance), since muskets are now technically better, because they're the same strength but require no iron. In practice they may not be, though, because of the lack of...

    Patch .332 & Happiness

I had a similar experience loading a turn-180 game on continents. Based on what I'm reading in other threads, I think we'll probably have more success starting a new game. Our cities and infrastructure and social policies will look very different.

    I suck at Tech Research

Wait, how do you get "AI has entered Modern Era" messages if you start in Future? Aside from that, your preferred set up is so different from the vast majority of readers here that I'm not sure anyone's going to be able to give you specific advice. It's your game, though, so play however you...
