No idea. With Sofia's "casual" way of speech, I just stylise it based on how I would talk to my friends (but I'm even more informal; my speech is filled with swears, slang and inside jokes.)

POPs pay no attention to a candidate's gender, they only care about the issues at stake in the election. So it meant absolutely nothing in regards the election results.

Now, in an in-world roleplaying sense, I'd expect that the tie occurred not because of the numbers my spreadsheet spat out but because some voters probably did opt away from Sophie Megame in favor of the Hon. Heerlo because of her gender. This was, however, evidently not enough to hand him an out-and-out victory, and it's pretty likely that some voters (probably a fair proportion of the women voters of Haven of Peace) who leant towards the Hon. Heerlo were inspired by what Aurora Gurra was doing in the capital and supported Megame instead.

What is the Godwin Herald?

The Herald is a newspaper published in Haven of Peace that boasts a national readership. Recognised as the pinnacle of excellence in Pulian current affairs, it is most popularly known for its high quality political news, insightful and non-partisan analysis and unprecedented access to significant public figures through political interviews. The paper also boasts an excellent accounting of news both locally and international and contains information about culture and the arts. With an editorial policy of evenhandedness and no affiliation to any political parties or individuals, the Godwin Herald is known Pulias-wide to report the news faithfully without bias or agenda.

The Godwin Herald was originally named the Haven Herald, but was renamed in December 1832 in honour of the memory of the political reporter Harland Godwin who was murdered for daring to speak truth to power: his death at the hands of fascists or fascist sympathisers led to the adoption of the paper's informal motto: Remember Godwin.

The Haven Herald is unbiased, aye? Well, for some reason I have the strange suspicion that it is secretly ran by the leader of the 3P. ;)

But seriously, I think you've done a pretty good job of being unbiased, considering that you are affiliated with a party.

This is most certainly active, and first post says "New players always welcome!". I doubt that has changed but I'm not the GM here, cpm is.

We are currently in the middle of run-off elections because there was a tie between candidates in the recent elections. Melda wrote a summary not long ago for a new player summarising what had gone down up until that point (page 52) and the political situation in Pulias, in case you don't want to read a lot to catch up: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=13881347&postcount=1040

Nationalist Party​

Platform: We believe in the superiority of the Pulian nation and that is the only worthy nation in the world. We want to form a strong military to subjugate other nations and use their people as slaves in order to ensure a high standard of living for the Pulian people while securing living space. Men live in order to gain glory and we promise to lead the Pulian people to glory through military conquests that will stay in history as the greatest achievements of a nation.

Socially, we believe in maintaining tradition. The soldiers should get more rights and respect than other citizens because they risk their lives for our glorious nation. We also want to secure law and order and make sure that all citizens follow the laws. We also promise to battle the decadent and corrupt socialists who humiliate our nation by accepting to live in peace with inferior people and who want to erode our traditions. We shall also develop the economy through military conquests and building up the nation's infrastructure.

In short: we want to expand the military, secure living space, use the citizens of conquered nations as slaves, maintain tradition, give more rights to the soldiers, secure law and order and battle the decadent socialism.

People of Pulias City! The decadent socialists lead our nation to cultural, economic, military and racial destruction! As I will show you, they are so successful in leading our nation to ruin that they either are criminally incompetent or, most likely, foreign spies with the mission to lead our nation to utter ruin and humiliation! Our ancestors would be ashamed if they saw the destruction in which the anarchists and socialists have led our nation. Those traitors of their nation need to be taken down sooner or later or our nation shall be bankrupted, subjugated by foreign enemies and our racial purity shall be lost!

Firstly, with the so call "secularism", the socialists want to erase our culture! A nation without culture, without tradition, without a religion to believe in is prey to our foes who will assimilate us and make us people with no identity or, worse, foreign identity. Without our tradition and our church, will we still be Pulian? Or shall we be just some random people called Pulians? Will we still be a nation or just a group of people!? Without a strong culture to protect our nation identity, it sure that our racial purity shall be lost! For the anarchists want to open the borders and allow migrants to come in thousands to our nation! They shall take your jobs, rape your women and assimilate us in their culture thus taking over our nation!! Our glorious nation with it's long and glorified history shall be lost! How can we stand this!? Shall we allow them to surrender our nation to our enemies!? To the inferior people who should be our slaves!? No! No! No!!!!

Secondly, they have ruined the economy. In order to make projects, instead of taxing the rich and adopting policies of economic growth, they have led our nation to have a primary deficit. This means that we spend more money than we gain. So, sooner or later, our nation shall be bankrupt. And when this happens, when you will all become poor and you will be in their mercy, the socialists will steal your property. All this time, they protect their rich friends and it is you who pay for those projects. The combination of deficits and non-taxation of the rich and overtaxation of the rest of the people will lead our nation to economic destruction. The railways can also be build with fewer money than the ones spend by the government. Guess who pocket the extra money?! Guess who become rich while you pay all your taxes?!

Last but not least, those incompetent traitors who are not real Pulians but foreign spies, do not do anything despite the fact that the nation of Eruch plans to attack us and subjugate us! They want to make you slaves, to rape your women and steal your property and the incompetent government does not do anything!! I propose that we attack them before they attack us! We should send military forces in a surprise attack to conquer them. Our soldiers are all brave and strong and their racial superiority will make sure that we shall defeat the inferior people of Eruch.

Once we conquer Eruch, their lands should be divided and given to you, Pulians! So you can have a civilized standard of living! And the people of Eruch should be made slaves and work for you so that you can become richer and be able to study and make yourself wise while the slaves work for you. The place of inferior peoples is to be slaves to you Pulians, the most superior race and the greatest and most glorious people of the world!!
