The World Shall Be Ours! A German HOI2:DDA AAR!

Chapter 5 -The Anschluss of Austria!

January 1st 1938- June 1st 1938

The year started with an announcement on January the 9th that elements of the private sector who do not have Germanys best interests at heart were to be nationalised, to better benefit the people. Head Of Industry ArneHD was thus ordered to nationalise several companies, to increase our Industrial efficiency and assert more control over our economy.

4 days later, it was discovered that one of our Field Marshals, Werner von Blomberg, is to be married to a former prostitute. Obviously this will not do, and he has to be forced from office! We simply can not have important members of German society dealing with such persons!

The following month the Japanese came to us seeking recognition for their puppet nation of Mengkukuo.
A choice has to be made, should we withdraw our mission from China and foster better relations with the Japanese, or stay out of it and risk angering Japan? In the end we simply have to keep the Japanese friendly, they are a potential ally against the Soviets, and whats more the Chinese have communists in their midst and we can not deal with the red menace in such fashion!

A few days after this, another retirement was forced as the Supreme Commander moved to gain further control over the German Army. Using the abilities of Propaganda Minister swed14, allegations were made against the target man, and he was forced to give up his position.

During March our intelligence units brought us information that Stalin was launching the ‘Great Purge’ in the USSR. Eliminating anyone not seen to be ‘loyal’ to him, it appear many of the officers from the Red Army are being put in front of firing squads. It seems Stalin is doing our job for us! With such foolishness, the Red Army will be severely weakened for the time being, meaning we can expand eastwards without fear of Soviet reprisal! With their leaders and tatictians dead, it will take the Red Army many months if not years to recover itself!

March 29th, a great day for Germany! After weeks of political pressure, with threat of invasion, the nation of Austria came part of the Greater German Nation! After giving support to the Austrian National Socialist Party, we were able to help them organise a coup the day before a referendum on Austria’s independence was due, and our troops quickly moved in to take control, cheered by crowds of Austrians as we marched in! The Chancellor of Austria, Kurt Schuschnigg who opposed unification has been sidelined and Austria is now under full German ownership.

The Anschluss of Austria has been achieved!

This is a major step in our desire to create a German empire encompassing all German speaking people and Germanic lands! The next step is to re-unite the German speaking peoples of Sudetenland with the motherland, and free them from the ilk of Czech oppression! Moves shall be begun to put pressure on the Czech government….

During April, the Supreme Commander and his Head Of the Luftwaffe Kan' Sharuminar
were pleased to see reports on their desks, signed by Deputy Head of the Luftwaffe Godwyn, stating that great progress was being made on training our pilots in new doctrines and combat techniques. Serious commitment to the Luftwaffe will ensure success of our Blitzkrieg, using their planes to support our Panzer divisions as they crush the enemy!

We end this update with a look at the state of affairs in China on June the 1st 1398.

japansadvancenr8.png

As you can the Japanese have been making big advances into China, though still have plenty of work to do. Reports indicate there still seems to be heavy fighting around Nanjing, and none of the despised Chinese Communist factions lands appear to have been taken yet! We hope the Japanese will be able to achieve at least somewhere of a victory their, and then look northwards at driving the Communists from that wasteland Siberia! The more powerful the Japanese grow in the east, the more divisions the Soviets will have to allocate to the region, away from Europe….

Supreme Commander, I suggest that we place Anti-Air in the Rhineland. It houses a lot of our energy production and a significant amount of factories. Should the French try to stop our plans for Germany again, they and their insignificant allies would try to annoy use for as long as possible by stopping electricity to the rest of das Vaterland.

Our provinces of Dortmund, Essen, and Aachen are dangerously close to the French border.

I was planning on having our new interceptor planes (currently rolling off the production line) defend the skies over the Rhineland. An AA placement might be a wise idea as well, though our factories are currenly produced Panzers so costs and time constraints will need to be looked at.

Additionally 27 Infranty units, split into 3 divisions of 9 units each, have been allocated to defense of the German-French border. Ideally, they will be reinforced should any serious threat come from that way.

Ofcourse, I don't suspect that the French will have a strong air force or a strong ground army. The British are a different story, they may be annoying pests for quite a while since we cannot merely take their airports away from them.

The Russians... ha! I do not suspect those blithering apes would know how to glue a model airplane together!

Mind if I jump in?
I don't believe AA is the best idea as they are stationery as opposed to spending ICs on interceptors which can be relocated to fronts as needed.

While I am proud to announce that the smear on our great country Fritsch has been effectively removed, I am disappointed to announce that all attempts at having the German aims and positions save face with Britain have fallen far short of their anticipated effectiveness.

This being said, I am throwing my hat in the ring with KaiserWilhelm09, who, along with others, has shown interest in continuing the Western Campaign through France and onto the British Isles. I realize that this is indeed far into the future that we look, but the benefits of ridding Europe of the British menace far outweigh the costs of the invasion. Without the British there, we end all major threats at any real amphibious assaults, at least effective ones, as all allies have no ports to prepare the assault at.

On a good note, our Anti-Comintern Pact seems to be in line with the thoughts of the United States, and, through propaganda and diplomatic influence, I am hopeful that we shall be able to keep them out of the war. I am, however, nervous about our alliance with the Japanese. Their imperialistic thoughts on the Pacific could lead to not only an attack on China, but eventually, moving on the United States itself, which could pull the industrially-stacked nation into an alliance against Japan, and thus, ourselves as well. While Japan would allow for a sandwiching of the U.S.S.R., we must keep in mind that Japan will fight them with or without our alliance with them, as their bordering one another makes them de facto enemies.

We need to evaluate which better serves our needs - Japan allied with us and thus the United States potentially fighting against us, or the United States remaining neutral and ourselves having no ties to Japan?

My belief is Japan is a ticking timebomb. A liability. However, as you know, I shall do whatever is asked of me. I continue to stress propaganda operations into the United States as well as continued diplomatic influencial operations.

That is all.

The Japanese problem is indeed a concern, but more immediate is France. France holds German lands, this we cannot tolerate. An invasion of France soon after and invasion of Poland would not only prevent the allies from challenging us in the air, it would catch them severely off guard. A quick reunification of German lands is above all else desired.

A quick reunification of German lands is above all else desired.

I agree. I am not saying focus entirely upon the Japanese. I am merely saying we should distance ourselves from them. They will cause us more harm than good in the future, I fear....

Current intelligence reports show that the USA is unprepared for war and would take several months, maybe even a year or so to actually mobilise itself if attacked. I do agree with swed14 in that we should try and keep them out of any war though, as of course the USSR is our number 1 enemy and we need to unite all anti-communist forces against them. I would like to avoid conflict with the British, we shall have to see how they react as we look towards Czechoslovakia and Poland...so far this Prime Minister of theirs Neville Chamberlin has adopted a very pacifistic attitude.

@ArneHD - we shall wait and see how France reacts as we move onto Czechoslovakia and Poland, our border with them however is fortified on their side with their so called 'Maginot Line' which could be a problem. Should we achieve our aims with Czechoslovakia and Poland we will need to develop plans to deal with the French. For the time being our forces are preparing for any needed offences in the East, our Western border are protected but do not have the numbers for large scale offensive operations.

Mind if I jump in?
Go for it! Would you like a place on the council?:)

I fear that while they may be pacifistic at the moment, this will not last. No one is going to be accepting of our retaking our lands that were stolen from us...

Thank you, Supreme Commander. I'd like to enter the council as the head of the U-boat force as well as second in command in the Kriegsmarine with your permission.

Agreed, intelligence show that the hawkish element in their government is slowly gaining influence with each rightful move we took.

Thank you, Supreme Commander. I'd like to enter the council as the head of the U-boat force as well as second in command in the Kriegsmarine with your permission.
I shall have the paperwork completed immediately! Welcome aboard!

Chapter 6 - The End Of Czechoslovakia
June 1st 1938 - April 1st 1939

July 29th and reports indicate that a battle took place in the Far East between the USSR and Japanese, with the latter being the aggressors. It is being called the ’Changkufeng Incident’. Though the Japanese were ultimately repelled I think this shows to the council that Japan truly shows our distaste for the Soviets, and is willing to engage in hostilities against them.

A German spy reports states:

‘’This incursion was founded in the beliefs of the Japanese side that the Soviet Union misinterpreted the demarcation of the boundary based on the Treaty of Peking between Imperial Russia and Manchu China (and subsequent supplementary agreements on demarcation), and furthermore, that the demarcation markers were tampered with.’’*

The following month German researchers were pleased to inform Head of the Heer IronMan2055 that blueprints for new armoured Panzers have been completed and that production can begin when desired.

September is a dramatic month for us and Europe as we move to assert our claims over Sudentenland.
Taking advantage of Europe’s unwillingness for conflict and exaggerating our military capabilities, we push for the area and it’s ethnic Germans to be handed over to our control. Italian leader Benito Mussolini persuades us to hold a conference on the matter, with assurances already form British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain that no military action would be taken without further discussion.
Thus we agree to meet with European leaders in Munich, and at around 1:30am September 30th we sign a deal effectively handing over Sudentenland to us!

The new Czech border!

"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time."
- Neville Chamberlain, outside Downing Street later on the day of the agreement

Naturally we begin preparations to begin pushing forward for the whole of Czechoslovakia to become part of the German Empire. As part of this the month of October see’s Panzer production put into full swing. As we move into 1939 we have great hopes for what the new year will bring….

1939 begins with us moving further towards a war economy as further moves are made towards Central Planning. Head Of Industry ArneHD was said to be pleased as we increase our IC further.

On January 7th we do have to deal with a resignation though.

But we have good news a few days later as German spies, having been ordered to gain technological blueprints from all of our potential rivals, succeed ins stealing blueprints from the Soviets for ‘Rear Area Vehicle Repair Shop’. Hopefully we will be able to repeate this and gain more blueprints in the future!

Spending weeks developing accusations that the Czechs are mistreating ethnic Germans still living within their borders, and on March 15th we summon the Czech Prime Minister Hácha to Berlin where we begin threatening a Luftwaffe bombing attack on Prague should the capitulation of the Czechoslovak army not occur within the next few hours, giving him no choice but to agree.

Splitting the country in 2 with Jozef Tiso, we incorporate the nation into our empire, with a puppet state set up under Tiso as the Republic of Slovak. Czechoslovakia was at an end, the Brits and French have failed to stop us taking it and the German empire is expanding! Czechoslovakia is ours!!!

Following this 9 days later we press ahead with claims on Memel, the Lithuanians by now terrified by us and easily caving in to our demand.
memelnb7.png

2 days after this we learn the Italians have declared war upon Albania, no doubt inspired by our showing of the Western European Democracies as weak and unwilling to act. Spies also indicate they are worried about becoming ‘second rate’ in comparison to us…

However the month ended with uproar in the Council of Domination as the British Government, under sever pressure after it’s failure to save Czechoslovakia, guarantee’s the independence of Poland and pledges to support it in event of invasion. The UK no doubt has anticipated that acquiring the port-city Danzig was our intended next step in the expansion of our Empire. Poland is now in effect allied with the UK and France, causing us great problems as now moving on our next priority target will no doubt cause war with the Western Powers. How will we deal with this, and what will the outcome be? Dare we take on the might of the British and French Empires? How would we go about doing this? Are the armed forces really prepared for conflict? Though our Army and Airforce is growing, the Navy is sadly no where near the standards or size of the British fleet!

*From the wiki article

If it comes to war with Poland we should be prepared to invade France as soon as possible, preferably waiting only to redeploy troops from the eastern front to the western. After France we should concentrate our air force on the Royal Navy so that we can invade Britain itself as soon as possible.

PS: Do we have any Naval bombers? Such planes should be able to cripple the RN for a sufficiently long time to allow us to make landings.

PSS: Could we get an update on our forces on the borders?

Chamberlain, that silly bloke.
Building up the Kriegsmarine should not be such a big problem, as long as we concentrate on building U-boat. Is our newest U-boat design Type VII or Type IX?
Edit: BTW, just look at the first post.I am supposed to be the head or the whole U-boat arm, not just pack 1.:gripe:

Ooh, ooh.. can I play? [pray]

How effective would submarines be in, say, a war with the UK?

I sense doubt in your words. U-boat is the most cost effective way to blockade Britain and force her to fold. Not to mention I believe we are behind in surface ships technology which would take time to catch up and build.

WEEEE Panzers. ;)
