The World Shall Be Ours! A German HOI2:DDA AAR!

PS: Do we have any Naval bombers? Such planes should be able to cripple the RN for a sufficiently long time to allow us to make landings.
Not yet, but blueprints are being researched for them. Alot of production however is going into building a force capable of taking on the sheer numbers of the USSR.
PSS: Could we get an update on our forces on the borders?
Ah...I've actually played the next installement and shall be typing it shortly....there's a screenshot of the forces there....I believe it was around 24 panzer divisions (in 3 groups) plus numerous infranty, and 3 squads of 4 CAS plus around 10 taticla bombers:)

Chamberlain, that silly bloke.
Building up the Kriegsmarine should not be such a big problem, as long as we concentrate on building U-boat. Is our newest U-boat design Type VII or Type IX?
Edit: BTW, just look at the first post.I am supposed to be the head or the whole U-boat arm, not just pack 1.:gripe:
Pack 1 is the entire u-boat force at present:crazyeye:
Besides, this way I type your name actually into the game (you can alter unit names):)
At current, there has been no research done on u-boats, so whatever the germans start with will be the current design!

How effective would submarines be in, say, a war with the UK?
Well if I can keep them away from aircraft carriers, probably quite good for blockading...it's just aircraft carriers have a longer range and we don't have any good methods of sinking the British ones yet!

Ooh, ooh.. can I play? [pray]
Sure, what posistion woudl you like on the council? (see the op)

I would very much be obliged to see our entire airforce strength and numbers
Will go take a screenshot in a min and post it up with the next update later today!

Chapter 7 - WAR!

April 1st 1939 - October 15th 1939

Part A: ‘Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact’
April 1st - August 30th

April 18th and the Italians declare victory in Albania, announcing the country is now under their complete control.

June the 20th and we are disappointed to learn that the Japanese have agreed to sign a non-aggression pact with the Soviets. Fighting a battle over several weeks around the river Khalkhyn Gol (note: The Japanese are referring to this as the ‘Nomonhan Incident’) it is clear that the Soviets have the upper hand, unfortunately defeating the Japanese. The Japense are officially reporting 8,440 killed and 8,766 wounded, though our sources tell us they could have suffered as many as 45,000 dead. Spy reports indicate that this defeat has convinced the Imperial General Staff in Tokyo that the policy of the North Strike Group, to seize Siberia as far as Lake Baikal for its resources, is now untenable It will take a lot for us to persuade the Japanese to actively side against the USSR in the future.

As July ends so does our non-aggression pact with the Poles, and understandably we have no intention to renew it.

August the 2nd and the Chinese resistance has collapsed (though the communists still remain for the time being). Japan has achieved victory in China. They swiftly establish a Chinese puppet state, though keep plenty of land under direct Japanese control. Perhaps in time this will help lead to them to once again being willing to move against the Soviets….

(the orange are the communists, who still fight on against the Japanese)

As August draws to an end it is time for us to put our plans into action regarding Danzig/Poland. With the British and French apparently willing to go to war over this, we must ensure that we can take Poland without interference from the Soviets. Thus we are in dilemma. We must deal with our ideological enemy, the Soviet Union. Thus after some intense negotiations, we agree to sign the ‘Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact’. Officially a non-aggression pact, we also agree to a ‘secret protocol’ agreeing territorial spheres between us. Finland, Estonia and Latvia are to be handed to the Soviet sphere. Poland to be divided - the areas east of the rivers Narev, Vistula and San going to the Soviet Union while we will occupy the west. Lithuania, will be in our sphere of influence.

We will have to let the Soviets have Eastern Poland (for the time being) .

Thus, with this agreement secured, it is finally time. We can move on Poland. On August 30th they are given an ultimatum, they must hand over Danzig or face war. We will not, can not back down now! Danzig is rightfully ours, the German Empire must grow!

As expected, they reject this ultimatum. There is only one thing for it now. We must declare war. And so it is…we are now at war with Poland! This is immediately followed by a declaration of war upon us by the British, France and the British Commonwealth. A bloody struggle has surely begun!

Though it is a shame that we must fight the British instead of gaining their assistance to defeat the threat of communism, we shall have no mercy, we must emerge victorious! Though for now we deal with Poland, we will have to turn our eyes westwards soon enough.....

Part B: The Invasion of Poland
August 30th - October 15th

Operation Fall Weiss is begun immediately.

Captain2’s 1st panzers are to attack from Oppelin. Potaokiosks 2nd Panzers from Kurstrin, and the 3rd Panzer Corp from Stettin. All attacks are to be backed by infantry and CAS/Tactical bombers.

attackattackattackdp8.png

The might of the German forces and our tactical genius of Blitzkrieg proves to be extremely effective, as all targeted provinces fall within the 1st day of the war. Polish casualties are high, and ours minimal. Polish forces are weak, and their army is not fully mobilised. Their troops are no match for ours in open ground! The Supreme Commander is pleased by the effectiveness of the German fighting force.

By Septembers the 6th Warsaw is besieged, and by the 9th there is only one route for the Poles out of it. Thus on the 11th our forces are fully in place, and an attack is launched. In 5 days bloody street fighting 45 German divisions are poured into the area, as we take the city house by house, with finally Potaokiosks 2nd Panzers succeeding in fully capturing the city and driving the Poles out at 3am, Septmeber 16th.

The following day the Soviets launch their own invasion of Eastern Poland, making swift advances with little or no opposition. Polish resistance has now collapsed and we can fully annex the nation. We have achieved victory in Poland within 17 days on a declaration of war!

German Troops In Poland

Though we honour the terms of the pact on September 20th, moving troops to the agreed upon borders, this doesn’t stop our spies stealing the blueprints from the Soviets for ‘Improved Encryption Devices’ 6 days later!!

The next month see’s us trying to deal with British and French bombing runs into our country. The Luftwaffe is doing a fine job but clearly we do need to build more interceptors, and start building some fighters. As requested by Head of the Luftwaffe Kan' Sharuminar, here is a look at our current air forces as of October 15th, 1939.

I recommend that as this war continues, and while we do have a non-aggression pact with the USSR, we should begin to insert spies within their borders, so as to effectively conduct smear operations in cooperation with my propaganda deputies. This will help to weaken the support the USSR can attain later when our attack upon them is made clear and concise.

Also, I recommend that we begin a smear campaign against the United Kingdom, as they are the most apt to be able to drag the United States into war against us. Should we be able to lessen their standing among other neutral nations of the world, it could serve to prevent the US from backing them when their backs are to the wall and we are preparing for our assault on Britannia.

OOC: How do you get the list of the total forces for your country and everyone elses? I've been searching but can't find it. Thanks!

Also, as I see there is still no Chief of Intelligence, I am willing to step up to the task, as Propaganda could be better utilized if fed through the Intelligence Bureau.

I thank the fighting men that took ethnic German land from the poles, plus some land to retire on.

Quickly! Invade France before they can regroup!

We have pleanty of spies in those nations, but sadly lack the funds (aka hard cash!) to conduct that many operations. Good idea with smearing the British though....should we find some cash i'll go about that!

Statistics. But it only shows you and your allies forces.

No probs, sorted!:)

So the 2nd Panzer Corps is under Guderian (Potato) who do I have as my avatar? :p

Kleist eh?

well If I play my cards right I may survive the whole AAR :p

Why attach armoured cars to panzer division? I suggest attaching SP-A to enhance their attack against soft target instead. Or if it hasn't been researched, engineer would also suffice by easing river crossing in the lowlands and increasing speed.

I just got into the habit of doing it, I think because they are quite cheap IC wise and don't slow the tanks down, plus boost attack power. There's also quite a few Panzers in the force with Heavy Tanks attached, for extra punching power:D

Are there any field positions available with regards to army commands?

All but 2.

Hi, I have been folowing this thread for a while, I would be interested in joining if there is any open spots. Maybe Foreign minister if that is still open.

I like hearts of iron, I play it alot, never played as Germany though.

Sure, welcome to the council!:goodjob:

Germany is probs my fave nation to play as in HOI2, followed by Japan and the USSR.

thanks

hmm, I am more of an allies person, but since I am doing this, maybe I should start a game as Germany.

I have played Italy though so I do not always play as allies

I haven't played as the allies much, I probably should have a go when i've finished this though. I think it's because the allies actually won the war in real life and i'm kinda intrested to see fictional alternative outcomes!
