Chapter 26 - Capturing Northwest Africa
August 30th 1946 - April 19th 1947
September and the battle for Tripoli is intense and bloody! Thankfully the advantage is ours and soon enough we have managed to trap 48 US divisions in the city of Tripoli itself! The Panzer divisions used their immense fighting skills to achieve for us, proving once more why they are at the forefront of our military forces!
September 24th 1946
On the 26th we move in and engage those units, and swiftly destroy them as they are found to be extremely under supplied and in poor state! On the 30th Tripoli is announced as being firmly secured by Axis forces! As such as thus begin October with a push into Tunisia! Though elsewhere in Africa we are getting bogged down in Ethiopia as the terrain proves in the British defenders favour.
During November German high command makes the decision to stop sending additional forces to the West African campaign to liberate Morocco and Tunisia as it is deemed that we have plenty enough forces their to do the job, though it will take time in the harsh African deserts. Instead those divisions are either being redirected for a long journey back to France or southwards for the eventual goal of occupying South Africa.
There is some bad news in November as well though, as we loose a naval bomber unit over the North Sea.
The rest of November and December is spent clearing US/UK units out of Tunis and Eastern Algeria. On December 8th Lebanon finally gives into the pressure and joins our alliance - they had no choice being surrounded really, and it will help us if we ever war with Turkey, which at current is not a plan in any sense.
On December 21st Captain2s 1st Panzer Corp, supported by the 1st Afrika Corp, captures Tunis itself.
1947 sees a continuation of our African campaign. It is slow, the terrain does not allow for fast tactics so it is endless grinding down of the enemy that will win us victory in the end on this continent.
General German policy is a building up of our naval and air forces for an eventual assault on the UK. This is going to be slow as we want to be sure we have overwhelming force, and there is no risk of them being able to launch an invasion of their own, our Atlantic coastlines are well secured, though a couple of infantry units are sent to Norway to bolster defences there.
On march 23rd German Panzer units capture Casablanca. In early April all remaining US forces in North West Africa are trapped and destroyed at Ifni.
Some US forces still remain further to the South in Western Africa, they will need to be dealt with.
Between January and April 8 more Aircraft Carriers are put into service, with their eventual purpose to support the amphibious landings when we invade the UK.
April also sees the completion of another Nuke, meaning we now have 2 in our arsenal.
