Moskva Helo Carrier (09-20-06)

I'm a fan of both varieties - together, you blokes make one heck of a fleet.
As for me, I want a Waldorf Salad!

I downloaded this great unit and made ship and heli setup as suggested in first post.
Everything is well but the fact ASW helis can't spot subs during recon missions even if "detect invisible" flag is checked.
After few trials I realized the same happens for land based helicopters/planes regardless the fact that "tactical missile" flag is checked or not.
This actually reduces the use of ASW heli/planes in sub hunting.
Has anyone ideas about dealing with this ?

Wolff 66,

I was thinking that you may try giving the helo a couple of move points...between two to three. Also, check the "go to" ability in the editor.
See what happens.

Thanks for quick reply
Your suggestion works only if I uncheck "immobile" flag, thus allowing heli to go around the map.
No harm in this... but I do not like helicopters to sit in water tiles at the end of the turn.

BTW I noticed the "detect invisible" ability DO WORK even for immobile air units when they are carried by a ship. In practice the embarked air units "add" this ability to a carrier ship with originally can't detect subs by it own

The other option to keep helos from ending their turn in water tiles is to check the sinks in ocean and sinks in sea flags. I just tried this, and it does work with air units.

Nice for helicopters. I'm wondering how this can apply to large land based asw planes like Orion (animation still missing as far as I know) or Nimrod.

I'm thinkin' about a set of CIV III rules to enhance naval warfare gameplay. Should I find something interesting I'll post here.

Posted same shot of Moskva and Ka-25 in the Ka-25 thread.
Both look great together, and are much better looking in the game than in the jpeg.

Oops. Missed the jpeg. See next post.

Apparently I can't upload the same image twice. Check the Ka-25 Hormone thread for how the helo and aviation cruiser look together.
