Crossing mountains with elephants isn't recommended, just like using horses against elephants.

Yes it's C2C. Tech is late Industrial (1930s?) so no terraforming. Yes if I was playing seriously going back into slavery would be a good idea (it's not as easy in C2C but doable), so as not to waste all those starving pops. Not that they would pay for many 1000-hammer buildings or units...

I found it amusing that Patton and Rommel were born on the same turn to civilizations that were at war with each other.
To add to the irony, I was playing as the US and Patton was born in Mali and Rommel was born in France. I guess it could have been worse--it could have been Guderian instead.
