Wow, on King the AI is cheating on science.

Okay, so I'm going for a science victory. I have like 12 cities all with universities. And 9 of those cities have Public School. I have specialists working on all them. I have high growth in all my cities. Yet, somehow, Harun Al Rashid, with his 4 cities, with a low population, has more techs than me? Complete BS man.

The AI blatantly cheats on technology.

I just finished a game on king as Arabia, and I excelled in science. At one point I was over 9 techs ahead of the next competitor, so the AI doesn't "blatantly cheat" with science. You have to factor in wonders, trade agreements, the development of his cities, the 3/5% extra science cost per city, the tiles, specialists, great people, is his city producing science or not... There's so many factors that you might not have accounted for.

The thread is tagged "vanilla", so the extra science cost per city in BNW wouldn't be relevant here. Research agreements, however, were quite powerful in vanilla (if you managed the median tech mechanic well) and late game GS bulbs were ridiculous.

Yeah, but this is vanilla though. If it were about specialists and growth, I should be ahead in Science.

But like I said, I've got 12 universities, 9 public schools, as well extra science from policies, but I'm still not getting as much as the AI.

This makes me think the AI must be cheating on tech.

Plus he only has 4 cities with a low population? The AI is cheating to get more techs.

BNW actually did introduce a Science AI cheat (at all difficulty levels, not just King). 85% of normal; which is actually a bigger discount than a Human playing on Settler. (This is to offset many of the AIs behaviors of being too slow to build libraries in new cities, thus hurting their empire by reducing their science rate via over expansion)

But neither Vanilla nor G&K feature an AI discount on science. But at King they all start with Pottery; and increasing the handicap will give them more starting techs.

The AI doesn't flat out cheat on king any more than the bonuses that you already knew they got. He started with pottery and you didn't, for example. The AI gets certain bounuses that you don't on king, but it doesn't and can't decide to randomly pick up techs on its own. Remember that it isn't a human. It doesn't have an emotional need to win. If it loses, it loses.

Go to Global Politics. What wonders did Arabia have and what social policies did he take?

The AI doesn't cheat , it has bonuses to varies things at harder difficulties but it doesn't cheat :).
