I think this guy should be available for germany as a second leader.

His strengths and special abilities could be any of the following

mass transit in all cities (autobahn)
flak fortresses (great for AA defence)
newbelwerfers (rocket artillery)
V1 and V2
First Jet Aircraft
Concentration Camps (curbs war protests)
obviously Panzers

this has more then likely been disscused before, but for the records, This is my petition for it to be done.
 
Well first off, when Hitler first ordered the construction of the Autobahn it was called Adolf Hitler's road, and secondly, the autobahn actually was more effective for the Americans toward the end of the war, then it was to the Germans when it was built or during the war, rail was more useful to them.
 
Uh oh. You just opened the let's include hitler can of worms.

Just for the record, I don't think Hitler should be in. He'd be too close to Bismark(both should be considered aggressive and scientific). Also the whole genocide thing... But I think the German leaders should be Otto I(Religious and Organized) and Bismark(Aggressive and Philosophical(scientific)). They would provide a nice balance and just sidestep the uncomfortable issue of Hitler. (for those who don't know, Otto I was the first Holy Roman Emperor, considered the founder of that Medieval entity.)
 
good point trajan13 on added a third choice leader.

however hitler probaly had the most extreme military machine that the world has ever seen. He is probaly one of the most implacable persons, beside jesus, and osama bin laden that has ever existed.

Just remeber Boys and Girls this is all a game, a game with alot of choice.
 
between bismark and hitler, i say have hitler...
 
Let's face it, Hitler brings painful memories and associations to a lot of people (and not just Jews. Ask a Russian about Hitler sometime.). I don't think the game should ship with Hitler loaded as a leader, but maybe someone could offer it as a download for those who are interested. Hitler is also an object of fascination to many, a lot of people would probably play him.
 
I would have to say that many might be offended by Hitler being in the game (Poles,Russians,French,Jews,Homosexuals,Gepsies,Germans(mostley),Americans,British,Hungarians,Czechs,ect,ect). Hitler brings back not too old bad memories, and is not the greatest leader over all honestly. He wasn't the greatest strategiser (i.e. invading Russia and fighting Briton). He might of made a modernized and large army and brought a economy back from depression, but he has done nothing positive for the world, execpt maybe the Volswagon, wait no, that sucks. sorry for bad spelling.

It could be that Hitler would make people really mad. Of course, this already happened in Civ 2 and no-one seemed to notice (you could be him in the WW2 scenario). But as far as having a leader who's hated by many today, Mao Tse Tung would also be a problem.
 
It also means that the game won't be able to be sold in Germany.
 
You are right that adolf hitler is an object of fashination to many. In reality he was just a man though, moreover it is obvious to anyone with a basic knowledge of psychology that he didnt care much about germans since he didnt really understand the concept of humans; like many kings he also viewed other people as just pawns in a game, much like some us soldiers seem to be happy to view themselves today, and at any rate are viewed as by their superiors. Even if germany had managed to build an empire after ww2 why would it matter to an individual german soldier who had lost one arm or one leg while trying to help the "great" cause? Hitler=power, and some teenagers will inevitably be fashinated with him, this wont change.
 
Ridiculous.

Hitler was, all in all, a poor leader. Not just because he lost, but he simply was not a "great" German leader.

Also, how many Germans do you think would want to see their nation represented by, of all people, Hitler? Very, very, few.
 
The way to decide whether a leader is a good choice or not is
1)Do they accurately represent the character of the nation?
2)Would people of that nation be (generally) happy with that leader?

Both of these are a big no for Hitler, and of course there is the realtity check of Jews being a bit pissed with Hitler being noted as a great leader (+myriad other ethnic groups, the man really was a bit of a <Snip>) and Fireaxis wants to sell to these people esp. with Jewish impact on US.
I understand the reasoning of 'hey I just want the choice, what's the big deal?' but there is no reason to include him above some actual great German leaders.

My family were Czech citizens, and were oppressed by Nazis, and forced to take up citizenship as Austro-Germans and join the Nazi army. Most died. Hitler was a brilliant politician and sorted Germany out. I do not agree on his philosophies, and think he did some sickening things. In the end, this is a game - and no i would not be offended if he were in the game. In fact, i'd like it more! Gives me an opportunity to bring his regime crashing down in-game =).
 
Moderator Action: Just as a pre-emptive warning (since this tends to be a sensitive subject). At the first sign of this going the wrong direction it will be closed off. We don’t need more arguments between people because of this.
 
yes i could see that some groups would probaly be offended by hitler, and would probaly take it to the next level and no one wants to see that.

However it would be great for someone to take down hitler as revenge for their families.

And like I said before, Germany has laws against selling a game where you can play Hitler. That is a lot of potential lost sales.
 
I am a nationalist by political belief, but I am a strong enemy to Hitler, his Ideas and everything that had been done in his name. It is one thing to put your country's interest on high pedestal and another to wage wars and inspire murders because of insanity.

I think it should not be included in the official release. But if someone made a mod for the WWII, it could be used as a leader.
