Who-2 Keith goes to the Moon.

Sorry just got back in town.

OK here's the picture and a save. We are Qin Shi Huang. We are industrious and financial. We start out with agriculture and mining. Our UU is the crossbow which I liked using in my first game.
Prince
Continents, temperate, standard map.

Eldar do you want to start us? If not I'll play it tomorrow.

Yuck, that's a horrible starting spot. Or can you build workshops on flood plains?

We can move 1 tile before settling without any loss. 1 SE seems acceptable. We could also move eastward to were the warrior is standing right now and get the sheep and crabs in. The western hill also seems to have some sheep on it.

Settling 1 tile away from the coast is a big no-no though. If we move that way, we might as well go all the way.

The flood plains do offer a quick worker and settler, though. We start with agriculture so get farms right away, so we can take off, concentrating on a specialist farm there. Second city we can make a production powerhouse. Coastal cities and cottages on unfarmable land will eventually make the financial trait pay off.

So my very early plan would be:
- Settle in place, start a worker immediately.
- Research bronze working to allow chops.
- Use the worker to chop a quick warrior (or even two with the overspill - gotta love that :D )

Whichever way you go I would go for the gold. Kommerce is still King!!

The only thing I'd consider is using the chops for settlers and handbuild the warriors. Switch the work before the chop is done to settler.

The floodplains, IIRC, can only farm but those hills will eventually come into play big time for production.

Lullaby let's move you over to Who-1. Then we will have two teams of 7.

Eldar Moon--Up and at 'em
Whomp Moon On deck
Maine Moon Pliskenator--in the hole
Daghie Moon-- should have IV in hand this week!
Keith Jive Talkin' Trumpeteer-- over the weekend.
The Grumpy Old Monk Moon--late week
'Lil Grasshoppah Own the Moon--graphics issues?

>>> The Save <<<

Good news: (plenty of nice resources, including Horsies!).
Bad news: with all those FPs, Beijing was on the health limit at size 1. Yep, our city is unhealthy at size 2  . I had reasons for settling there though: read on....

0 4000 Well, turning on the resource locator gives us piggies on the hill NW/W, and gold SW/W. I am so settling in place. Research Animal Husbandry first, I guess. Very unhealthy here though - we're already at 5/5 health. It's probably a good plan to keep the local forests, and chop the ones outside the 21. Rename the warriors Whomp's Whompers and send them SE as it's the only place to go where they'll reveal more terrain.

2 3920 We have horses.

4 3840 Pop a hut, maps

8 3680 Beijing has grown and is already unhelathy!

11 3560 AH arrives. Start on Wheel.

12 3520 Warrior->Worker. Warrior fortifies.

14 3440 Buddhism has been founded.

17 3320 Lions appear S of Beijing.

19 3240 Wheel->Pottery (granary for +health).

Screenie, with notes attached (cool feature, the tactical layer, or whatever it's called):

It seems Beijing is a disease ridden cestpool. I like the looks of the southern note attached factory (dot) and it looks like we'll need it soon! So I'd think pottery to BW for chops asap. Got it unless Pliskenator can grab it soon.

You can take it Whomp. I'd actually prefer to be one or two spots farther back, if that's alright, that way I have a good idea of what our surrounding area looks like (I'm playing with black terrain, don't forget).

OK I will take it then so I can clear some fog for ya. :D

Pre-turn: Truly a filthy mess in the capital.
1 3160-- Warrior continues north

2 3120--

3 3080-- Pop a hut and....

 !! Decide to riisk it and send the city warrior south for another hut.

4 3040--

5 3000-- Move other warrior on top of hut south and he gains experience.

6 2960-- Our southern warrior gets a double woodsman promotion to woodsman II.
(30% jungle/forest defense and 2 moves on that terrain.). Turn down science to get pottery in 2 and 2 gold pieces

7 2920-- Our worker finishes and start a lib for a turn since we'll want to research hard and will switch to gran next. Southern warrior gains even more experience.

8 2880-- Pottery comes in and start on BW so we can chop a settler. Move build to a granary and start on the pigs. Warrior gets combat I but moves next to some lions. I hope with 30% defense will help.

9 2840-- Warrior gets attacked and defends. Send him to Beijing to heal. Our northern warrior is getting blocked by bears
which are nastier than lions for sure.

10 2800--Move west to avoid bears up north and move home with our power warrior.

Summary
Not too much. I think once we finish the granary, the pig pasture and get a few chops in we'll be in biz. We need some fishing techs since there are plenty around. The pasture will improve health a bit and give us an extra shield in two. I've maxed growth till then. That Chicago Bear up north should be avoided. It may make sense to bring him home and let the experienced warrior head south with his woodsman II and combat I strength. I think the north is a dead end for now.

Anyone know the hotkey for renaming units?

A note on floodplains: A city surrounded by floodplains will get unhealthy very quickly so we should consider not building farms on floodplains right away in order to control our growth. These babies are lethal deathtraps. In the later game, these cities will make great Great Person generators when health can be controlled.

Yeah, looks like I won't be exploring north much. Bears and panthers are almost impossible to sea with black terrain.

I can take this tomorrow if no one else wants it.
