Eldorado III

Eldorado is a scenario for civ3 conquest on the theme of exploration and conquest of a new world.

We are in 1450. Wars in Europe ended. A new era of expansion opens for your nation.
Will you lead your country to prosperity? Can you discover new lands and exploit the resources (gold, silver,...)? Will you find the mythic Eldorado? Will you discover the fountain of youth? Will you manage to protect your trading vessels from pirates? Can you fill the first conditions of victory for this game? You have until 1750 at the latest for this ...
During 3 centuries you will have to excel in the art of war, navy, exploration and diplomacy to achieve your goals. The task ahead is not easy, believe me!

Civilizations:
- european major powers (England, France, Spain, Portugal, Nederland)
- natives
- pirates

Objectives
- as an european nation you must reach 60 000 victory points. You will score by bringing treasures in your capital. There are several kinds of treasures
- as a pirate you can win by reaching 60 000 victory points (but it's harder) or you can obtain a cultural or diplomatic victory
- as a native you can win only on cultural condition

What you will find in this game
- some unpublished graphics (like advisors, era splashes, tech trees, some aspects of terrain, buildings and wonders...)
- great units (almost made by sandris, imperator1961 + cossacks conversion by Steph)
- new music and sound effects
- several hundreds of units (land units and different kind of boats)
- separate tech tree (historical) for each nation
- 240 new buildings and wonders
- 70 resources
- a complete civilopedia but in french for now (a translation is possible later if you like this game)

Specialties of this scenario
- very special units (that's why you will not find a biq for solo games because AI doesn't know how to handle some units)
- exploration is much harder than in an epic game. You will face full of aggressive indigenous tribes, wildlife (some invisible units like snakes!). Some terrains (like jungle) are hard to fathom and only your explorers or conquistadors will venture there... At the start of the game you can't terraform everywhere as you want!
-you have very limited diplomatic contacts that you'll need to develop during the game. The same way, you can't trade by crossing the ocean at the start of the game. Your colonies are fragile because they can only produce militias and this is not easy to defend against the hostile world around them

Acknowledgments
I would like to thank :
- Sandris, Steph, Imperator1961, Plotinus for their superb units
- Steph again for his extended civ3 editor
- RedAlert for his meso-american buildings
- and all the other fans who contributed to this mod providing great graphics. Long life to the civ3 community!

I hope you will enjoy this game, Remarks, questions, always wellcomed :goodjob:

By the time I can get to this one, maybe a few brave souls will have found any glitches. Looks like it could be interesting.

Not sure I understand this question. I think he was saying that there will be no BIQ, due to some of the units not being handled well by the AI. He did not say this was an MP only scenario, did he? I took it to mean that you need to play the scenarios that are provided to allow the AI to manage. At least I hope that is the case.

Am I correct that it is not possible to play a solo game against the AI?
no you can play solo game but only with the special save files listed above.

This looks very good but I think that the download is very complex. I'd like to get a translated version as my French isn't that good.

Rapidshare is a pain in the butt. Can you upload this at atomicGamer?

You can zip the files into one campact zip file and upload there. you can upload up to 2Gig

I have a RS account so i use it
The Guardian, do you think you can translate this scenario too? As you do this job very quick on Barbarossa and here there is much less to translate

I suppose it`s a great scenario. Conquest of the New World is one of my favourite historical events and I would like to play your scenario a lot.

Unfortunately, I have downloaded only part 1 of the install. Seems like RS servers are overloaded and they have no more download slots left for non-members. I had an account last year, but it has already expired. :(

Look in post #8
You can find here a great tool (free) which work even without account for rapidshare, megaupload, ... many sites in fact
You just have to copy & paste the links in this tool then it will manage all the downloads for you. You don't have to wait, to enter pass etc ....

Hmmm, considering that I failed French in college, if this is in French, that leaves me out.

general-jcl, you should post a notice that the scenario is in French and not English for those such as I that have no ability at French.

He essentially did that with the screen shot. It is all in French. I doubt one would need to read a word of French to play. Maybe a few pedia entries would be tricky, but the Web will let you interpret them well enough to get the main points.

Now, if you never played Civ3, then it would be rough.

I agree, the language is not a problem if you're used to playing civ3

I agree with you. But still I can't enjoy it as much as I could if it was in English. I like to read Civilopedia entries and renaming units and such.

i understand and I think civilopedia worth reading. The Guardian seems able to translate very quickly. I don't know which tools he used but perhpas if you ask him....

I'll give it try.

OK, I took a look, and there is problem. This is a saved game. There is no BIQ file. Without the BIQ file a complete translation is not possible. I can translate the files but when you load the saved game you get a fatal error.
