I am looking for at least 5 players for a GIANT map with 24 civs.
Tech pace is cut in half, range for planes is slightly higher.

no other mods.

if you want to know what the game could turn out to be like, check K7 - The Zany Zerkers. That is the same map size.

Emperor or Deity level, PTW.

Roster:

me
Chieftess
Borealis
Aggie
meli
swiftsure

Bah. Why not make it a bazillion by a bazillion squares. I have no chance in taking part in SG's like this.

Hmm. Maybe I just need to sleep less, quit my job and never speak to anyone RL again. Yes, I think I may just have time...

Seriously though, I would love  to take part, but again, commitments preclude me

I hope this game will leave enough time in your schedule for when TET v2.0 comes out.

As much fun as K7 was/is (I haven't played a builder game since - although I'm in K41 now) I'm already in my max of two SG's at one time.

Re Aggie: I believe all mods have an optimal city number equal to the standard map. Maybe someone can confirm or deny this point as I am not a modder.

I believe all mods have an optimal city number equal to the standard map.

For my custom world maps I have to change the setting for TINY world. When I dropped science factor to ten, the game went with ancient age techs 4 turns each.

PTW cuts me out...
What are the extra 7 civs?

game length is 1000 turns, so we WILL get to planes I hope....

sorry, had to be PTW Erik :( otherwise no chance to get such a big map.

Aggie. Monarch is OK, too, if I cannot find Emperor players. But remember K7, we blasted that AI right out of the water....

Aggie: welcome!

I still think if we go Emperor it is like Monarch in a normal game.

I am playing a test game right now to see what it is like.

OK then sign me up...

Tournament, GOTM and about 12 pbems just aint enough for me!

I want to be in an SG too...!!

Yay! Killer, any difficulty level is good for me, but I agree that Emperor should be about right, so long as some other people get the damn thing started :p

Melifluous

Should be interesting, never played on anything bigger than large at Emperor but i'll have a go.

OK, if we go emperor I would add the following. I managed to win my first emperor game on monday (huge map, 8 civs). This was mainly because of my trading skills. Not my early expansion.... And I have very little experience in SG's. I noticed that experienced SG-players have a certain style of play that they got into because of practise and surfing at CFC. I'm not there yet... I appreciate general pointers before I start my turns, like: dotmap, certain strategies etc...

Aggie: I am trying a test now and find Emperor rather though. So i think we will picka civ with an ancietn advantage, or one to expansion. So don't fear!

That game, japan is expanding on F8 like I do on Chieftain!

OK, setting the game up, I decided that I want an industrious civ, and preferably one with Pottery for the start, as we WILL HIT THE 512 CITY limit soon!!!!!!!

it is only 16 cities per civ!

what do you all think?

Killer: you mean that you want to play a 362 X 362 map but CivIII only allows 512 cities for everyone? Hmm...that's going to work out to about one city for every 84 land tiles. That means that even with no overlap, and assuming that cities are all inland, about 75% of land tiles are guaranteed to be outside the range of any city.

Is there any limit on total number of units in CivIII?

It seems to me that this game sounds a little too big, and will take a little too long...although it does sound fun in theory :)

-Sirp.

Sirp: I have played games like that, they ARE long, but fun! You suddenly start needing colonies, later airfields and so on. And it is a lot of fun, as even the AIs do NOT go for Tundra cities for oil.....

Also, you can out-flank enemies with fast units.....

and yes, no domination
