azzaare come up with a fantastic map tool that is way better. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1huqHZSdPM-TTnRPv7o_YphTlue8&usp=sharing
SHOUT OUT TO HIM/HER!

At this point via leaks, we have a good understand on who will be in the base game of Civ VI. That being said, I have decided to post the TSL of Civs even if they have not been confirmed. Please note that some capitals are guesses based on some research of the leaders so it is very likely that the capitals on this map are not accurate. For instance, Greece has two different leaders that may have two different Capitals. This should not make a huge difference in this TSL since most Civs (excluding Russia) are small anyways.

Note:
Scythian Capital was placed using a site found by Gambito. http://www.silkroadfoundation.org/newsletter/vol2num2/greek.html

For the time being I am using big dots for Civs, small black dots for city-states, and small orange dots for natural-wonders. I plan on using the in-game symbols for the game on map when the game comes out. I was going to use the Civ V symbols but obviously some items like Scythia are unavailable.

Civ:
  • Arabia: Cairo
  • Aztec: Tenochtitlan (Mexico City)
  • Brazil: Rio de Janeiro
  • China: Xian
  • Egypt: Ra-Kedet (Alexandria)
  • England: London
  • France: Paris
  • Germany: Aachen
  • Greece: Athens
  • India: Delhi
  • Japan: Kyoto
  • Kongo: M'banza-Kongo
  • Norway: Nidaros (Trondheim)
  • Rome: Rome
  • Russia: St. Petersburg
  • Scythia: Pokrovka
  • Spain: Madrid
  • Sumer: Ur
  • United States: Washington D.C.

  • Poland: Krakow --- DLC?

Trade City-States: (small yellow dots)
  • Amsterdam
  • Jakarta
  • Lisbon
  • Zanzibar
Industrial City-States: (small orange dots)
  • Buenos Aires
  • Brussels
  • Hong Kong
  • Toronto
Science City-States: (small blue dots)
  • Geneva
  • Hattusa
  • Seoul
  • Stockholm
Religious City-States: (small black dots)
  • Jerusalem
  • Kandy
  • La Venta
  • Yerevan
Culture City-States: (small purple dots)
  • Kumasi
  • Nan Madol
  • Vilnius
Militaristic City-States: (small red dots)
  • Carthage
  • Kabul
  • Preslav

Natural-Wonders: (Brown)
  • Cliffs of Dover
  • Crater Lake
  • Dead Sea
  • Galapagos Islands
  • Great Barrier Reef
  • Mount Everest
  • Mount Kilimanjaro
  • Pantanal
  • Piopiotahi
  • Torres del Paine
  • Tsingy de Bemaraha
  • Yosemite

Thanks to another civfanatics post (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=567144) for listing all city-state and natural wonder information and more.

Thanks to another civfanatics post (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=575004") for Civ's logos.

Thanks to @MAHRana for a different view for a TSL.

So I know in an interview with Ed Beach Civs were picked with True Start Locations in mind. That being said, I decided to plot the announced Civs on the a world map to provide a visual of what to expect. Maybe the empty space on the map will help somebody predict an unannounced Civ.

Note: the Scythian Empire was a little tricky to figure out as far as capitals go. I saw in Tomyris's video that her capital is Pokrovka. I did a bit of googling but came up with a bunch of maybes. So i just picked the location here on maps.

Cool. You going to keep it updated as Civs are revealed?

Well done! It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Oh and welcome to the forums. Great first post. :)

So far the area not covered yet would be Western Asia. Mesopotamia is considered the cradle of Civilization itself. Strange that Sumeria(Gilgamesh) is yet to be introduced. Anatolia(Hittites), Assyrians, Arabia(Saladin), Persians all have significant importance in early history. Since Egypt has been introduce, it only makes sense to include some of her ancient rivals. And with Cleopatra as leader it's odd that Rome(Trajan) is yet to be announced. I expected both Greece(Pericles) and Rome to come out with the Olympics underway. But the Scythia announcement threw a wrench into that theory. So as far as what's next. It's safe to say it's anybody's guess.

What do you think about this location for Pokrovka?

http://www.silkroadfoundation.org/newsletter/vol2num2/greek.html

It seems to be the one on Kazakhstan, NE of the Caspian Sea.

This one also talks of a Pokrovka in KZ, and they mention the kurgan burial mounds.

Ya, these locations make a lot more sense and they look like they are very close together. I'll update the map to reflect these changes. Looks like I am pretty bad at doing research.

Hahaha don't be so harsh on you. The difference would be barely noticeable on the bigger map. I was just curious on finding out which could be the exact location of this site and share my theories with everyone.

Naw. You have done good work. IIRC, there are quite a number of Pokrovkas out there. :crazyeye: It's a fairly common name.

Scythia on TSL maps should be, for balance purposes, more on south east from the position you marked on the map. Maybe in south-eastern Kazakhstan.

On the scale of TSL maps, even huge ones, such break from realism won't be visible at all (not to mention the fact how relatively obscure Scythia and Kazah areas are) while it would be much more balanced position - further from overcrowded Europe and Moscow, closer to quite empty Asia and Siberia.

Also, while Pokrovka may have not been in this location, actual Tomyris ruled much closer to Uzbekistan than Moscow, and those areas were still within Scythian settlement areas, so that wouldn't be far from reality.

As for the TSL balance in general, civ6 is better from civ5 in that it has civs of South America, Africa-further-south and Central Asia (Scythia), but in fails in the lack of South East Asian civ (that's quite huge fail) and of course Aztecs, crucial for balance, unavailable for first three months.

I originally placed Scythia here because it seemed like a possibility. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Pokrovka,+Kyrgyzstan/@10.0560128,-8.3422269,3z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x38a6c2eb7ec82fa5:0x51515c1dc85aa0f8!8m2!3d42.7197486!4d71.6080009

I think he specifically said that they didn't pick civs with TSL in mind...

Let's just remember that in Civ V the capital for Boudicca's Celts was Edinburgh...We're going to go nuts trying to figure out where to place a city that probably Tomyris never set a foot on, and was randomly chosen by the Firaxis team as the capital. So let's just let the OP decide where he'd like to place it the most, as long as it is in the Kazakh-Uzbek area :)
