This Li Shi Min leaderhead comes from Chinese Civ3 edition; I just fixed problems with jumping frames and speed (each flic has 121 frames now, except ancient which has 50 but is slowed down to match the rest); fixed transparency problems; added pedia icons and new advisor PCX with more distinctive moods.

It's era- and mood- specific. You can use it with your mod or put it into your Civilization III/Art folder to replace Mao (but remember backup Mao files first!).

With help from Wang Yu Shi who provided the files and then from Drift, the file is now available at CFC:

Also, here is small bonus - alternative leaderhead and civilopedia icons using medieval era instead of modern:

Mao in China like Stalin in URSS with Krushev (the deStalinization)?

IMHO something like that, yes. The country has come a long way since the cultural revolution and let a hundred flowers blossom policy. Modern China is communist mainly in name - large amount of it's economy is based on the free market zones like the Hong Kong area.

As far as I know Mao is still liked very much as a person, even in China, ie. he's also a poet, actually a good one. Nevertheless, I prefer to use Li Shi Min now...

Actually, I think Mao is still rather revered in China. I think it has more to do with the fact that the Party doesn't want it's main hero portrayed as some cartoon character in a video game... especially one in which China might lose.

And btw, thank you embryodead! :goodjob:

What is with his whacky beard? I say it's good for Ancient-Industrial eras, but he wouldn't have that in Modern days.

Still very nice. You know what somebody should do? They should replace the Modern LiShimin leaderheads with the Modern Mao. I would like that more because I don't care much for the Modern LiShimin and it would be more like real life.

The Chinese Civil War was very very interesting. Nationalist vs. Communist, then they join up during WW2 then they go back to fighting. Mao's PLA armies marched through the desert and came back around and forced the Nationalists to retreat to Formosa. Chiang Hai Shek still held ground on Formosa, now Taiwan, and kept the Republic of China there.

The US navy is stationed inbetween China and Taiwan to protect Taiwan from being invaded. The PR of China considers Taiwan part of China while Taiwan considers themselves the old China or just Taiwan.

If PR of China ever gets rid of Communism Taiwan could perhaps join up with China again and they'd bring back the Republic of China.
