I was thinking that after playing Europa Universalis II, a mod about Turkey's rise to power is definately worth it. Trezibond, Sivas, Dukhakir, Karman, Byzantium, Bulgaria, Hellas, Morea, Turkey, Marmeluke, Al-Hedjaz, The Kaliphate, Cyerania, and Algeria could all be in. Maybe someone has a better idea for it.

Awesome. The Ottomans interest me more than any other empire and civilizations ever. I would be more than pleased to help you wish this scenario. You have more information about/for this scenario? Persay, timeline, background, etc?

I'd love to help out too, i studied the ottomans for my scenario, and they are damn interesting.
a timeline would help though...
Anyway i'll start looking up right away.

Units: Sipahi cavalry(the Sipahi from PTW) and janissars(Is that spelled right, mobilize?)
Civ: Hungary, Leader: Louis II
Austria, Poland, Safavidas(Leader= Abbas I)
won: Shah Mosque

Jannissaries or Yeni ceri (New Troops in Turkish)

Some wonders should be the Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofia) and the Blue Mosque (Sultanament (SP?) Cami)

Also Ottomans should have some unique cannons. And the scenario ought to take place after the fall of the seljuks and the receding of Tamerlane's empire.

Any ideas for an ending date? I like 1920 when the ottoman territory broke up at the end of WWI, but then I have to put all of western europe. I think the mod should go till ~1600 when they start to fall. That way i only worry about hungary, austria, poland, and russia in europe. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if Russia would be accurate. Back then it was still Novgorod and Muscovy, but i dunno much about russian history so someone else could explain it better.

Map

Everything from Vienna and Venice to Western Persia. Nothing North of Bohemia. Egypt, Arabian peninsula, everything else in middle east between Cairo and Ctesiphon.

European Civs that Should be Included:

Ottomans
Byzantines
Bosnia
Serbia
Hungary
Wallachia
Austria
Venice

Middle East

Here I'm not sure. The oens that are for sure are:

Safavids
Mamelukes

You should also include one or two rival Turkish states in Asia Minor, and any other civs that could be there.

Also, add the Trapezumtine Empire to the list in the post above, it was small and relatively unimportant but it lasted from 1204AD when the Byzantine Empire broke up to a couple of years after Constantinople fell to the Turks.

Well, the Ottoman Empire conquered southern Ukraine, so I think Ukraine should be in the game. As for the Russians, I think the scenario should have them too, because after all, Russia was the Ottoman Empire's worst enemy(they always had border disputes, either in their western or eastern borders).

Also Bulgaria perhaps :hmm:

Mongoloid Cow, since you know a lot about Asia and Middle East at the time, do you know some other good civs to include in the region, so that the Mamelukes and Persians don't get too powerful.

As for Unique Units for the Ottomans, I think there should be 3.

1. Ghazis.

These guys should come early on in the game, to help Ottomans in the initial stage of the game. The Ghazis were clan horsemen which grew famous due to their skill. They'd be a light cavalry unit that would be weaker on attack and defense compared to the European knight, but would cost less and have one more movement point.

2. Janissarys.

The obvious choice. These guys should come in the second age. They would be very powerful on attack and defense, but would cost a lot. They would also require a special resource, christian villages, found only in Europe.

3. Sipahi

These guys should come in the last age (which I'm assuming would be the third. They'd be about the same as they are in an actual game.

when the ottomans took the safavids territory, they disputed it with persia and afghanistan. correct me if i'm wrong.

 My knowledge of the Middle East after the the Rise of the Islam is dodgy at best. But a couple of other civs for Iran could by Ak-Koyunlu (Horde of the White Sheep) and Qara-Koyunlu (Horde of the Black Sheep). They fought each other for more than a century after the Il-Khanate collapsed. The Golden Horde or the Khanate of the Crimea might also prove important.

I say something like this should be good. We need to do 3 things:

- Place several barbarian Turkic tribes around Ottomans. Include some barbarian settlers underneath warriors so that Turks can capture them and build cities in area (Would this be possible?).

- Overexaggarate deserts in North Africa, Middle East, and around Caspian Sea, to prevent settlement of these ares.

- Perhaps cut out Corsica and Sardinia and what/not. Also maybe not include the Bulgars... maybe.
