IHT: <Game crashed; I fortunately did save after the IBT, but the notes were all lost>
It was something like: MM-ing all cities very carefully allows Sci down by 10%. Joined workers of dead civs to core cities with spare food. Cancelled deals who were "expired". Focussed on production, science and growth, in that order.

[1] 1764 AD. down Sci by 10%. Re-MM cities for gold. Don't buy Radio; it costs us 935 gold and we get it in 1. Nearly 1000 gold is too much in our situation. Disband some artillery, tanks and cavs for shields (and to reduce upkeep-cost).

IBT: We learn Radio. We go for Computers next (90%, - 147 gpt, 7 turns). Our Military plans have been stolen.

[2] 1766 AD. A round of F4 learns that:
Hittites -> Schientific equality
Sumeria -> We are down Rocketry, Fission and Computers
Inca -> We are up Radio
Maya -> We are up at least 4 techs
Byz -> We are down Rocketry
Port -> We are down Rocketry
Spain -> We are down Rocketry

I'm glad we have spies with everyone, except Portugal and Spain. No Space-ship parts will escape our spies. I decide to go for an unknown tech; Ecology; for trade-reasons. MM so sharply that 3 scientist gets us the tech in 8, 4 in 7. So 4 scientists are ordered.

Sell Spain Coal for 25 gpt. Dyes for 22 gpt.

IBT: Spain and Portugal sign peace.
Bonn riots

[3] 1768 AD. Clean some pollution. Check with my Spies. A safe steal costs us about 5000 gold. If I put science to 0%, we make about 1450 gpt. But Ecology still has trade-value. I think it is wise to continue full science on Ecology and once we have that we go stealing. No other Civ has learned new techs. Disband some units. There is only 1 "opponent" left in the game; Sumeria. Against all odds I start to believe we can win this. If only the Sumerians never hold a UN-vote.

IBT: Spain declares war on the portuguese. Hittites want to talk. Are we interested in an embargo against the Maya ? - No, we only declare war every 500 years, we don't do embargo's !
Bonn celebrates "We love the King day" -> Make up your mind; riot or WLTK !

[4] 1770 AD. Automate some workers for Polution duty. Cancel Incan wine for our Oil + Saltpeter + Spices deal. Trade Oil for Wine now. Sell Byz our Dyes for 22 gpt. No new techs have been learned by the other Civs.

IBT: Inca wants to talk. Sell our WM for his + 12 of his gold. Inca + Hittites MA against Maya.

[5] 1772 AD. Join more and more workers to core city with a food surplus. Hiring many Scientists allows me to drop the Sci rate 10%. We are now at 1788 gold, +47 gpt. Ecology in 4.
Cancel Ivory + Incense deals with the Sumerians. Portuguese also have Ivory. We sign the Portuguse Ivory deal for our excess Saltpeter + Horses + Rubber + Spices.
Cancel the Oil deal with Portugal.
Buy Incense from Sumerians for SPices + Dyes + WM + 9 gpt.
Sell Oil to Portugal for 46 gpt. We got all the resources back and our gpt has increased to + 103.

IBT: Arnhem riots. Wall street message pops-up.

[6] 1774 AD. Switch Utrecht to Wall Street.
Sell Inca Radio for WM + 2gpt + 139 gold. No new techs around. MM perfectly to get Ecology in 3, without loosing beakers. Disbanded units for shields (calculated precisely to not waste 1 single shield).

IBT: nothing.

[7] 1776 AD.
Ecology in 2, it hasn't been discovered yet. Disband tactically. Income = +154 gpt.

IBT: Inca and Portugal sign peace. Hittites don't want to pay 149 gpt for our oil. I'll take 56 gpt for it then. Inca and Byz MA against Sumeria. Hamburg riots. Sumerian city of Ur builds SETI.

[8] 1778 AD. No new techs, no trades.

IBT: We learn Ecology !!! Choose Synt Fibres, just to choose something.

[9] 1780 AD. Set research to 0%.
Sumerians do not want to give up Fission for anything. Sell ecology to Sumerians for WM + 29 gpt + 2068 gold + Computers.
Buy Rocketry from Portugal for Computers + 85 gold.
Sell Computers to Byz for WM + 1559 gold.
Sell Ecology to Spain for Furs + WM + 496 gold.
Sell Rocketry to Inca for WM + 19 gpt + 70 gold.
Sell Computers to Inca for Silks
Sell Rocketry to Hittites for WM + 187 gpt + 734 gold.
Sell Ecology to Portugal for WM + 210 gold.

-------------------------------------------------

I did not finish the turn. The nexy player can MM the cities to his liking. There are still units that can be disbanded for shields and there is a steal opportunity with the Sumerians; our only competitor. There is an alternative; the top tree. The Sumerians are far ahead in techs, but are willing to trade techs for tech. Our research is good (if you adjust taxmen to scientists and MM them every turn.) so we can outresearch them to some techs.

Andvruss: steal or research; a tough call !!
1 thinh is very important: Micromanaging. Every turn saved is so much advantage for us.

Good Luck.

The save 1780 AD.

Andvruss: play as many turns as you like/can and post a save. MicroManaging and checking for trades and slider-actions consume a lot of time. If you play only 1 turn or go for 10+ I'm happy with it.

I think that, against all odds, we have turned the game around and are actually winning this game !!

Preturn- establish embassy with spain and the mayans

IBT: Complete wall street
Sumerians complete manhattans

1782:
Manage to steal a tech(safetly) :D
I choose Space Flight
Rotterdam switches to Apollo (6 turns).

IBT: Give henry saltpeter for 27gpt

1784: trade space flight and 900 gold for fission to the Byzs

Choose miniturization
Tech parity :D
Sci to 90%, Synthetic due in 7
Ytrecht starts Internet

1786: MM our cities for 10% luxes

Sorry I cant do more, I must pack.

Excellent results Andvruss; tech parity. !!! :band:

What about switching Apollo program and "The Internet" around? If Rotterdam goes for The Internet and Utrecht for Appollo; we'd be using our big shield city for a great wonder and our 2nd best for a small wonder. I wouldn't be wanting to loose Internet by 1 turn. Perhaps we should consider mining and starving; Internet is a nice Wonder for the Space Race.

-156 gpt for Synt Fibres, due in 6; while our treasury is 203 ? I think that will cause a problem in 2 turns... When we are at tech parity with the tech leader we can sell techs for good money. There is no way we will loose the Space race now.

Our only way to loose is if Sumeria decides to hold a UN-vote. To stop this we might consider signing a worldwar on Sumeria. It will cost us our rep (again) but we'd be safe from the Diplo-loss.

Skunk: do your best and set up the win !!

IHT - Checking around, looking good. But how did Byzantines suddenly get so strong? It's only them and Sumeria who's stronger than us.

By using a tactical nuke as placeholder we switch production in Utrecht and Rotterdam. By assigning some engineers this will give us the Internet in 9 turns instead of 12. On the other hand we will get the apollo program in 5 turns instead of 4.

Trying to get some more money but nobody has any real money, except the incas. We sell them Ecology for 130g + 111gpt.

IBT - Spain wants us to join an embargo against the maya, we decline.

Nuremberg: marketplace->aqueduct
Leeuwarden: cathedral->airport

And that's as far as my laptop will go on this battery, I'll continue tomorrow.

OK, Internet seems to be in the bag. Apollo will be finished in 2 turns and we have already some prebuilds for the spaceship parts. Our economy is thriving.

Should we risk a war by trying to plant spies in Spain and Portugal?

Should we drag ourselves in a world war against Sumeria just to stop them from holding the vote?

Or should we just totally focus on launching our space ship?

Risk war for Spies with Spain and Portugal -> No, they are not as technologically advanced as we are and they are no threat for our Space Race.
WW against Sumeria -> Hard call, If enough Civs are in war with Sum or Furious with Sum it isn't needed. If they are popular enough it is needed. There is no way we can get 1 single vote from the civs. I'm inclined to say yes (watch out for MA's and MPP's). -> This is your call.
Focus on Space: Yes absolutely. See the possible war with Sum as part of "focussing on space"

(3) 1792AD - I spend quite some time analyzing the threat of the UN vote.

We could stop the vote by uniting the world in a war against Sumeria. But either our reputation is to damaged or all nations are to frightened, because when I test to list techs, rubber, uranium and over 2000gpt for an alliance it's always "they would never accept such a deal"...

Without direct deals we could still enter MPPs with lots of nations and then declare war, but since everybody already is at war with at least one other nation we would probably end up at war with half the world again.

We're not quite ready for a war right now anyway. If somebody landed a modern strike force on our land we would probably be able to kill the first wave but not the second. Our strengh right now is that we focus on production and research while the others focus on warfare.

If my calculations are correct it's 42 turns since Sumeria finished the United Nations. That would mean that they have postponed the vote twice and has 17-18 turns until next time.

I decide to NOT start a war right now and instead totally focus on the spaceship, but I've already begun preparing a counterattack force of tanks and mechs.

(6) 1798AD - We need more money, but nobody has any money. Sumeria are of course willing to pay good for Synthetic Fibers but I do not want to provide our top competitor with Modern Armours.

Superconductor in 7 at -80gpt.

IBT - Maya and Spain sign peace. Portugal seems to be losing, I saw one of their cities getting razed.

To Inca for 52g + 18gpt, to Byzantines for 831g.

We upgrade our ironclads to destroyers for some of the money.
Upgrade a bunch of infantrys to mechs too.
Disband some mercs, using the shields wisely.

And we finish the internet.

(10) 1806AD - Sumeria have joined the space race. :cringe:

We sell radio to the maya for 120g + 9gpt.

OK, I have to stop here, without quite finishing this turn.

Sumeria has satellites and are willing to trade it, but only for a lump sum. So the next player can decide either to trade for it or to steal it.

It's also possible to arrange for us to get superconductor in 2 turns instead of 3. Micromanage carefully.

We have 3 SS parts finished, 2 more on the way and as soon as we get new techs all nukes are meant as prebuilds.

The only things that can stop us now is the UN vote or a ugly war. But now we are more prepared than we were when I started these turns. I've started producing military, mainly in the cities that "has everything".

Do think through once again if we should start a world war against Sumeria. The UN vote is really the only thing that can stop us now and it seems like the wars are beginning to end.

I think the reason why no AI would even consider looking at an alliance deal was that we where not at war with Sumeria ourselves at the time. It's possible that it will be easier to get them to join a war that you start. And we only need one or two to join for the majority to be at war with them.

I was pondering if we could conquer the UN from Sumeria in a well-organized precision strike, but it will be very hard since the UN city is two squares from the sea.

A bad thing is that we get incense from Sumeria and it will be a really high cost for us to lose that.

IHT. We still import Incense from Sumeria for 3 turns. If Skunk's calculations on the UN-vote are correct that happens in 7 or 8 turns. I'll rethink in 3 turns. What I'm going to do is get Supercoductor in 3 and when all deals have ended, try to steal a Sumerian Tech. Build Embassy with Inca for 60 gold.

IBT: Sumeria and Inca sign peace. Byz complain about our troops in their lands. Sorry; they'll leave soon.

[1] 1808 AD. Set all workers to Pollution-duty (automated). I know it isn't very smart, but MM-ing isn't going to do it any more for us. Load an empty army with Modern Armor.

IBT: Some Byz ships move.

[2] 1810 AD. Cancel gpt deals with Spain for our Coal and Dyes. Sell Spain Miniturization for WM + 313 gold + 168gpt. Switch all excess specialists into scientist; still can't down sci-slider. Turn them all in taxmen. 2 turns now. Find the exact right amount of scientists to get Supercoductor in 1, and hire 2 more to be safe.

IBT: Wine deal with Inca end. We need that luxury bad !! Give him Oil + Spice and Dyes for it. We learn Superconductor and add another part (SS Exterior Casing) to our Space-Ship "Dutch Destruction". Byz are working on 2 parts and the Sumerians on 4.

[3] 1812 AD. Turn 3; Decision time. After switching some pre-builds; we get 3 new parts next turn. We can get Nuclear Power in about 5 (10% lux and still + 49 gpt.). No new Techs around. Cancel Sumerian Ivory for our Spice + Dyes + 9gpt deal. We need only 4 techs, while the Sumerians still need 5. We can outresearch them. And we can pre-build.
I decide to sign a World War on them, after I sell our Superconductor for Sumerian Sattelites + 380 gold.
I do this by signing a MA with Byz, throwing in Satellites. They throw in WM + 22 gpt + 206 gold.
Spain will join for Space Flight. Cancel the Oil for 46 gpt deal with Portugal.
Sign in Portugal for Miniturization + Space Flight. Portugal gives us WM + 41 gpt + 68 gold.
Cancel the Dyes deal with Hittites and sign them in for Computers + Space Flight + Ecology. They throw in WM + 28 gpt + 137 gold.
Mayas join in for Rocketry. We get WM + 19 gpt + 47 gold.
Inca want to pay WM + 16 gold for our Space Flight when the join in on the dog-pile.

And so, after 10BC, 500 AD, 1000AD, 1500AD the world is seeing another dogpile on 1 civ in 1812 AD, but this time it isn't on us !!

Checking happyness in our cities. Due to the loss of Incense too many cities need entertainers. Up the lux to 20%.

Nuclear Power in 6.

IBT: Inca and Maya sign peace. Byz complain about troops in their lands; they're gone while we speak. We complete 3 parts of the Space Ship "Dutch Destruction" - SS Fuel Cells, SS Engine and SS Life Support Systems.
Byz finish a part and so do the Sumerians. It's now Dutch: 7, Byz 1 (1 in production) and Sumeria 1 (3 in production).

[4] 1814 AD. Move all armies and spare units into Amsterdam. I do not want our Spaceship destroyed by some naval-actions. No new techs around. Nuclear Power in 5.

IBT: Chalcedon flips to Byz. Fine by me. If they want to stay behind on earth, let them. Byz add a part to their Space ship.

[5] 1816 AD. NP in 4. Nothing new.

IBT: Hittites and Maya sign peace. Byz still complain about troops. They're leaving soon !!
Sumerians add part #2 to their Space Ship.

[6] 1818 AD. Pollution is completely under control; we have 32 idle workers. No new techs with our Allies. Sumerians still refuse to talk so I can't check them. NP in 3.

IBT: We loose our furs-deal from Spain.

[7] 1820 AD. no riots. Sell Spain Satellites for Fur + WM + 80 gold. NO new techs with our Allies and Sumeria still doesn't want to talk.

IBT: We complete part #8 of our Space Ship. SS thrusters added.

[8] 1822 AD. No new techs with our allies. Sumerians still refuse to talk. NP in 1.

IBT: Portugal no longer wants our Saltpeter. But they do want our Oil for 33 gpt. Byz again complain about troops. Gone. Byz and Sumeria sign peace :(
Nuclear Power comes in. Start on "The Laser" (in 6).

[9] 1824 AD. Cancel all (already long expired) resource sales to the Byz. Those traitors will pay for their treaty-breaking through the nose. Coal is sold to them for 35 gpt. Dyes 28 gpt. Hittites have Gems for sale. I sell them Satellites for Gems + WM + 174 gpt + 173 gold.
Set lux to 0%. Switch as many specialists as possible to scientists. 100% gets us The Laser in 4 at -56 gpt. ICBM's and Palace are prebuilds.

IBT: Portugal and Hittites sign peace.

[10] 1826 AD. Clean up pollution. Andvruss can finish the game. Rotterdam has Prebuild for SS Planetary Party Lounge and Haarlem pre-build for SS Stasis Chamber.

The Save; 8 turns before launch ????
