Buying Colonization, Spore, Both, or Neither?

I boguht both and am disappointed by both. Both couldn't meet their own expectations.

But at least Col adds some nostalgia. And the graphics are kinda nice. And I do hope that some of the mess will be cleaned up with a patch or some clever mods.
