I've never seen so much of a particular tile type. It'll be a surprise.

It's just a continents map...

It's a decent start, but there have been a lot better. Obviously with wet corn in the capital and 3 solid flood plain cities nearby (not to mention fast workers & Gandhi), this probably plays more like a prince game than a monarch game.

That was fun just to play around - didn't even play the map right and still easily cruised to culture.

Spoiler :

That map screams farms, workshops & bulbing with PHI and all the FP, so....I cottaged everything up, beelined music, took all the aesthetic line wonders and culturespammed. Power of cottages flew me up the tech tree and once way ahead, used all the late culture wonders plus specialists and production to get this:

I had fun with it because I did this to Gilgamesh:

I took the two cities in the picture via culture, and kept spreading culture with spies so bad that even his capital was getting culture beatdowns from me.

Builds & culture cities:

More fun than that stupid automated worker game. I needed a cruise control game after that..

@michmbk - Would you mind posting a late save? I'd like to compare what we did.

I ended up with a space win around 1945 after a very long war with Freddy, Gilly, and Sally.

Sorry - I played that all start to finish and moved right on to the Brennus immortal university game. Never saved along the way. It was one of my TMIT style games - less than 2 hours! Still slow for him, but on the faster side for me. I'll try to save a game next time you post a shadow - I'm not usually very good about doing that.

Short story for me was I went with early great wall and mids in my first two cities, then used both to spam workers & settlers. Each new city started monument/granary/axe, and all the axes went to claim the two barb cities.

I cottaged all the flood plains while heading up the aesthetics line. Again, with Gandhi would have been much smarter to go farm/workshop and use all the great people, but it worked fine.

Never really built much defense until the end, all the neighbors were pleased until I started playing spygames with Gilgy. I didn't switch to culture until mass media, but had all the hindu mandirs built -that coupled with the wonders meant tons of culture. Once I switched, it was simply 75 turns of spygames.

One of Gilgy's cities I flipped was size 4 when I flipped it, but with all the bio farms it got to size 20 by the end.

Two hours? Holy @#$! I was at 6:30.

I did the whole farm/GP thing and it worked out OK. I just can't keep myself from warring though. I wiped out Gilly and half of Sally, but it took a LONG time (2 pro leaders) and the opportunity cost was very high.

WK pretty much took over the other continent and was ahead in tech until the very end. He also took most of the late wonders. I didn't have time to send over an army, so I went space.

Check it out on my builds screen - 1 hour 56 minutes. That's fast for me though - I tend to war too much and micro my warfare more then I should, leading to too many 3-3.5 hour games.

Culture games are usually faster though - lots of building, not much moving. Someone needs to play it the right way though - gandhi shouldn't be building cottages on all those FP - he should farm everything and have ridiculous numbers of great people.

As for pro leaders, I find it's best to wait to hit them with cannons/muskets or cavalry with a few spies - cavalry tends to be devastating to any AI if you prioritize them right, and with all the farms/workshops, Gandhi could produce tons of highly promoted cavalry (vassalage/theo/barracks/stable).

thanks Op for very nice map.

Domination win 1630AD, my new highest score in hall of fame... what a great map indeed

Spoiler :

I should probably write something about the strategy. Since there was obviously too much flood plains around, I decided that this is good map for cottaging first 3 cities.
Since there was only ivory for happy, I built only 1 wonder and that was Oracle for Oracle->Monarchy. I think it was really best decision I did. i delayed even BW after getting PH, which at times seemed risky, but I got Oracle in good time even for emperor game, so I wasn't that slow.

Well then as you can guess i put horizontal line of cities (5 of them), 3 of them cottaged, the border cities were more production. At 1AD I sat at 9 cities I think.

Techs were really strong. I totally outteched AI's around 700BC, getting CoL with self tech early, didn't actively spread much, only to Gilg, who was my best buddy for long time (actually at one point he was friendly).
Biggest competitor on this part was Saladdin with him getting 10 cities, I eventually got 13 cities before wars.

Then there was the usual routine... get to Cuirs, own my own continent, get Cavs, go for the other. Actually I had to get Cavs for Saladdin, but Freddy and Gilg were killed with Cuirs only.
Actually at first I wanted to kill first Saladdin, but Gilg made a mistake with converting to christianity.
One of the things I am not proud of is the amount of confu temples and monasteries I placed around, but since I built UoS I don't regret it that much. I calculated with Gilga getting AP. He got the tech reasonably early, but well I didn't have luck and can't have everything ;-).

I cleared my part of world completely and then cap of Zara+Ragnar was the finish. I am on the way to Flight for fighters eventually, but absolutely no need.

Thank you very much Vranasm. Extra points for building the Taj Mahal in Agra!

I have a couple questions if you don't mind.
1) What is the mod you are using? You have a lot more notices in your Event Log than I get.
2) You didn't build hardly any siege weapons. You just overwhelm the AIs with numbers? Or do you do the spy thing?

1) BUG+BULL in single player mode (aka CustomAssets) so people have no problem to use my saves

2) well I have a lot of praxis with Cuirs+Cavs warfare now and when you go against Longbows you don't need siege and I don't use spies even though for some a little bit tougher cities they could be good addition.
With cuir x LB you get seriously good results (no reloads!) up to 60% culture defense, with Cavs you basically ignore the defense bonus. You lose unit here and there of course, but AI's cities have basically 2-3 good defenders and you can definitely invest 3-4 cuirs/cavs if you are properly prepared.
But a lot of people advocate the usage of spies, then you probably don't have losses at all. I didn't do cuir/cav rush on immortal, but since AI will have there more units and you need better efficiency I would say it would be worth to join spies for the few first cities.

Don't ever stop building cuirs/cavs when you start the ball! That's why you can see the overwhelming number of units I have in the stats page, I started the war with a little bit smaller stack, I think 18 units of cuirs with 7 cuirs whipped last turn and on move to meeting point. Normally (emperor) I wouldn't start the war until at least 25 cuirs, but frederick was really weak and his SoD was pathetic, even though those War Elephants gave me some trouble even in the open ;-).

Major thanks, Vranasm.

My new game is on emperor and I'm in charge of my continent at 1550. :king:

I had a huge pile of cuirassers on KK's border when he peace vassaled to me. So I took them all the way to the other side and stomped out Hammy. That trick worked really well.
