If they want to do divisions, they could split OU and Texas up. That could restore some competitive balance.
The Big 12 could likely get Boise and BYU (the Pac-10 would want Utah)...and honestly, the conference wouldn't be so bad then (and would be a *really* tough basketball conference).
If they don't want to raid the MWC, I think their prospects for getting back to 12 are tricky...and quite frankly, they really need to do that so they can keep the Big 12 title game.
The conference is certainly worse off now. Nebraska might not be the football team it was in the 1990s, but it was a National brand, very tough in women's sports (their hoops team just made the final four), and the football WAS getting better. Colorado sucked.
