I once nicked a prompt from someone on the Craiyon site (prompts and generations are public, so anyone can nick anything from anyone) and put it into Stable Diffusion (on mage.space).

Spoiler A dreamy oriental landscape with a row-boat sailing towards distant mountains that open up in the center to light blue morning sky light watercolor accentuating soft pastel orange and brown tones :

SD1.5 was much better in my opinion for 'The King in Yellow' inspired prompts. Unlike SDXL, it wasn't as hypertrained on spitting out realistic human figures, so the results were more awesome and nightmarish. The images generated by SDXL lose that sense of horror and uneasiness.

Spoiler SDXL :

There are a lot of different models and Lora based on SDXL now, and except maybe upscaling using ControlNet, it should be able to do anything that SD1.5 could. But prompting it is different, you can't just re-use 1.5 prompts with SDXL.

Yes, but I was referring to the difference in how they interpret a prompt. You can see it much more obviouy when comparing Stable Diffusion and Bing

It looks like a gigantic flower pot.

This image was on Quora and is supposed to be in S. Africa. I cannot find any other source or verify that it is a real place. Are any of you familiar with this place?

On the one hand, I found references to a place called Table Mountain (I used the keywords "mesa" and "South Africa". But what comes up doesn't resemble this image. This one is too green.

On the other hand, I wonder why the thin part hasn't eroded. Is this supposed to be a dormant volcano, or some place where a small meteor hit?

I got a closer hit by looking up "South African mountains". If you google "Drakensberg" it looks like a closer resemblance.

It is not Table Mt. which overlooks Cape Town.

Yeah, I realize it can't be Table Mountain, since the pictures for that one show that it's not so green and it's closer to inhabited places. Is it the other one I mentioned? Honestly, you're not giving us much to go on, to track this place down (if it exists).

I've reverse-searched the image, but there is only one instance of it on the internet, that one Quora post (which itself seems to have been written by ChatGPT). I haven't seen a different image of the same structure, so I guess it is AI-generated? Though it looks too good. Maybe a geologist could weigh in on whether the structure looks natural

Thanks very much.

I don't have geologist credentials, but given Birdjaguar's diligence in rearranging picture posts into real and AI categories, I opted not to say the first thing that occurred to me, which is that it looked off. It's off-kilter for either a dormant volcano or a crater, and there should have been much more erosion/weathering anyway.

And after googling quite a few pictures of South African mountains, this one looks atypically lush and green. None of the others look like it.

Still, I was hoping to be wrong and actually track something down...

One of my favourite images from SD 1.5. The overwhelming atmosphere of awe, and the suffocating sense of menace...

Stormy Saturday night here. So some random relaxing landscape pics are in order:

The impressive part is all these images were generated in a few seconds by my 3090ti using a new kind of checkpoint (SDXL Turbo) which only needs as few as 3 steps to fully render an image when a minimun of 15-20 steps have been needed till now. In fact now it is possible to generate and retouch AI images in real time.
