So, if your not jiggy with it, your just another label. Tell me exactly how you are 'better' than those that would label homosexuals? Because I dont see how your labels and bigotry are any better to be honest. In fact one could counter with:

People who are for gay marriage are either:

a. Homosexual themselves.

b. Non-religious types who think any behavior is fine and dandy.

c. Secretly homosexual.

d. Sexually addicted.

e. Liberals and the like that really hate traditional family values and want to see everyone adhere to their way of thinking.

Oh boy, let's make some criteria that combine obsolete stereotypes with some good old-fashioned unfounded insults and see what we get. :(

For me:

a. Hetero.

b. A firm believer in crime prevention and strong punishment for offenders.

c. Wife and kids, frankly find two men disgusting. Don't confuse me with your Ted Haggard.

d. I enjoy sex, but hardly sexually addicted. As I grow older it becomes even less and less important. I still really enjoy looking though...

e. Not a liberal and vote for more GOP candidates than Democrats. Hate the thought of everyone adhering to my way of thinking. What fun would that be? Who would I debate with? Big fan of to each his own, which is exactly why I don't have any problem with two same-sex people doing their own in the manner they prefer to do it - including getting married.

Nope, I'm none of the above. :p

I think experiments have shown that homophobes are a lot more turned on by harcore gay porn than people who are apathetic or sympathetic to the cause, don't you think?

nonconformist: Someone's done a study of it:

NIH PubMed entry
PDF of research and results

Its an interesting read. Homophobic and non-homophobic men viewed pornographic videos, heterosexual, lesbian and male homosexual. The most interesting part - in the homophobic group, 20% showed no reaction, 26% showed a moderate reaction, and 54% showed a definite reaction to male homosexual images. In the non-homophobic group, reactions were 66%, 10%, and 24% respectively. (Paraphrased from page 4). In other words, 80% of people determined homophobic by a prior questionarre were aroused by gay porn, where in non-homophobic people that figure was 34%.

Just to muddy the waters, I suppose it is possible that they were aroused by the fact that it was something they disliked.
Or perhaps it would be rage that gets the blood flowing.

I guess we should ask 'what' was aroused - it was penile circumference. It's tough guess alternate emotions to allow such a response.

edit: rage would likely cause a contraction in that area, not an expansion.

The findings are anecdotal, so of course there will be many possible explanations. It does, however, seem to confirm general knowledge about people who show abnormal distaste for homosexuality (at least publicly).

Well, look at millions that were turned on enough by Ted Haggard to send him money - must have been from the masochistic thrill of him preaching against their secret desires.

Yeah, I am willing to bet there is some correlation, but I find it unlikely that a large percentage of homophobes are actually really attracted to men.

I support people's rights to have gay marriages that are given the same government recognition as hetero marriages.

Bub, I havent cherry picked anything here and I have merely stated my opinion and only my opinion in regards to what I consider 'natural'. However, you cannot tolerate outside opinion and thus engage in your current course of action.

But you've also conceded that you consider kissing 'un-natural'. So I really am perplexed at how you reason that one un-natural act should be grounds to influence who can and can't get married, while the other un-natural act should be completely neutral, and even a part of the marriage ceremony itself ("you may kiss the bride").

Who cares if same-sex intercourse is "natural" or not. It doesn't matter with regard to the question of whether it should or should not be legally allowed. We are talking about who should be able to enter into a contract.

Should we outlaw actions strictly because they aren't natural? When was "natural" a criteria for the legality of a contract? Have you ever flown on an airplane, had surgery, etc., etc., etc.

Yet another childish attempt to distract from the real question by throwing up one irrelevant issue after another.

Two. Consenting. Adults. It really is that simple.

If you don't agree then tell us the real reason why you want to discriminate and leave the irrelevant issues like animals, kids, inanimate objects, and now if it's "natural" or not out of the discussion.

Not to pick on you Eran, just wondering if you could be more specific..

Just to muddy the waters, I suppose it is possible that they were aroused by the fact that it was something they disliked.

Flow of blood to the penis increases when seeing something a person dislikes? I've never heard of that. It's possible of course, but common?

Yeah, I am willing to bet there is some correlation, but I find it unlikely that a large percentage of homophobes are actually really attracted to men.

Why? It's my experience that most homophobes are suppressing attraction to their own gender. Strong reactions usually have a cause.

Um, I don't think any studies have been done, but . . . a lot of fantasies depend on an element of something unpleasant (ie people are aroused by danger) - I can imagine people being aroused by sin, as they see it, as a concept more than the specific act.

Why? It's my experience that most homophobes are suppressing attraction to their own gender. Strong reactions usually have a cause.

I doubt "most" are really that way - just because the percentage of homosexuals would be much higher if it were true. Some are, no doubt.

As is so often said in this forum 'correlation does not equal causation'. There could very well be other factors at work in that study aside from attraction.
On the positive side, homophobes won't ever need viagra - if they ever had erection problems, they could just watch some gay porn before bedding down with their spouse.
