Hello all,

Mostly it is an override of existing units to give an ethnic style were it was possible.

Some new units have been added with their skins and some small changes made for some.

You can use it as a mod or just to extract the XML code of the units.
For some units I have written the xml for Artdefine but they are not used by the mod at this time.

Support english and french, german to come later this week.

Critics, ideas, and skins are welcome :)

Ver 3 :

Should be compatible with Thal's balance mod. (Tanks 55 combat, Panzer for Germany 65)

Corrected a bug in Submarine xml (some <Unit_AITypes> were missing)
Corrected bug in modern_armor xml (combat was 50 , must be 80 !)

I have to check it.

It will not be compatible with mods that modify the names of technologies required by those units.

It may do strange things with mods that keep the tech names but modify the tech tree.

If a balance mod modifies the base xml file of a unit (the one where the characteristics are defined) it will not work as planed in the balance for the units in my mod.

For example if your mod gives Combat 40 to Battleships those in my mod will stay by 60 (or 65 for Yamato).

But you can easily adapt the xml in my mod to paste it in a mod that your are using.

This is my main purpose : to provide players with the xml code so that they can use those unit skins or new units whithout having to write everything from scrap.

Next version will have the italians ships and infantry for the Rome Civilization (I forgot them).

I am planning to try some balance mods and if I use them to play I will adapt this mod to them.

If I remember well with Civ IV I knew how to make ethnic skins whithout making new units but with Civ V I haven't figured it out yet.
That would make the mod more compatible.

I don't know what Firaxis had in mind with Civ V but modding in Civ IV was much easier!
 
here you get version 2 : with the italians units for the Civilization Rome.

you can try it with rome to see if it is working (the battleship Littorio is set with no tech prereq and 1 cost, for trying).

On my computer Civ V does not load the file for battleships, it worked fine on ver and I can't find any reason why it is not working on ver 2, I just added the Littorio in this file!

Ver 1 is still on the mod, you can access it via your mod browser once you have launched Civ V.

I am interested to know if ver 2 is working for you.
 
Just out of curiosity, how is this graphic modpack different from R.E.D.?
 
i try ver2 but the game crash right after starting the game.
about ver1 the units are extra cool :) i played with Germany and i have little suggestione, i thing it well be much better if you rename the units ex:german infanty - Wehrmacht or Waffen SS and put some special abilities like +1 mouvment or more combat points.
this could be done for every ethnic units! what do you thing about this ?

Sneaks : Last time I tried RED it was only modifying the formation of units but I tried it long time ago :)

In this mod I didn't change the formations but I used new skins for some units : i.e. : the french tank is wearing the skin of a Renault R35.

I implemented some new units as well : the marine and the antitank infantry.

Yes it could be, like for the english and french riflemen that I changed because for their time they were the best and changed Europe.

Only problem is that is has to stay balanced so if you have any idea they are welcome (for example wehrmacht soldiers could be stronger but russians and americans should be cheaper to reflect the mass of those troops).

For Germany I will avoid any relation with the nazis because I want it to be a neutral mod.
Something that you can play because you like the germans and their units but whithout being the bad guy :) So Wehrmacht or Bundeswehr is fine for me.

Ver 3 should be compatible with Thal's Balance.
 
Ah, ok. Since then, RED has added just about every single unit you have in yours.
 
Version 4 is up :

Ver 4 :
Created the Specialunit DIVEBOMBER (at this time only model is the stuka)
Aircraft carriers can now carry specialunit fighters and specialunits divebombers.

Add "Surcouf" submarine cruiser : act as submarine and can load 1 divebomber, available only to France, limited to 1 unit. Cannot see other subs.

Add "I-400" submarine carrier : act as submarine and can load 2 divebombers, available only to Japan, limited to 1 unit. Cannot see other subs.
 
ver3 is working great, the units are awesome, they look super :)

only some minor changes :

the tanks have 55 combat to be up to date with Thal's Balance Combat mod and I gave 65 to the Yamato to her unique firepower

The I400 and the Surcouf are new units with new promotions. The Surcouf has a better combat value to reflect her 2*205mm guns.

The Divebomber has a bonus vs ships. It is designed as a torpedoplane.
I hope that we will get the US and Jap version.
Since it is a new SPECIAL_UNIT I gave the carriers the ability to carry fighters and divebombers.

In WW2 ships were sunk by planes from carriers, Battleships were mostly used to shell the islands.
