(FFH) Orcs 2. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

We can sok rush the final altar right? (I only know we can the ToM...)
If so, has anyone done the math on numbers?

I guess we can wait a day or two.

Sorry, I thought it was actually Q's turn. Will look into it when I get home :)

I understand it now! You can vitalize Ice, but I got the wrong impression because you can't Vitalize outside of your borders.
Yep, that's true. Strange, because you can use other spells like scorch outside your culture.

I think we should be able to rush it. Never tried for an Altar win in Vanilla before. so I'll rather test it when I get home just to make sure. Will also check on the numbers then. (Although SoK + rush-buy at the end should do the job. It's only 4000 :hammers:, same as the ToM.)

PPP for the next few turns:

I guess development and research is easier to decide at this point:
As far as technology goes, I'd say we should go with Fanaticism and then Way of the Wise + Righteousness, to get some more Altar levels whenever we're ready. We should pick up SoW afterwards and then go for the recon line for CwN while building the ToD for Omniscience.

We can now settle the remaining area and vitalize most of it. Keep an eye on the others and keep building a navy whenever there are hammers to spare.

Civics are an interesting question. I think Scholarship is fairly weak without either Caste or TGL. I don't think we really need the extra hammers from Arete. How about teching Engineering and building the Guilds of Hammers instead? Also: we won't really need Agra if we drop Aristocracy unless we want to run tons of sages (which we don't because we still need a couple of priests).

EDIT: Altar stage VII can be rushed by normal means. Tested it.

Don't forget Crown of Akharien can boost research somewhere. We can also run multiple priests in other cities with theocracy. Scholarship and caste will add beakers to any specialist including priests. Maybe we can raise the research slider another notch with more gpt.

I think I'll pull out of this.
When installing MNAI2.5 I accidentally went over the backup. I would reinstall but I'm not sure how it would effect a game I started (Ororo's challenge 2, which I recommend BTW).
Sorry :(

^^That's a shame, but I understand your predicament. While playing We don't... and this game too I had to delete and reinstall the mod 3 times so far. We should really ask Tholal to package the whole FFH2 + MNAI as a standalone mod, very much like Sareln did with Erebus in the Balance. That would solve the issue.

@Pigswill, I think Scholarship and Caste only boost sages. Yep, Crown of Akharien is a given. However, I think we can only rely on commerce to boost our research if we switch away from Agra into foreign trade. We don't have too many cottages and the farms won't give commerce anymore.

@Qgqqqqq. Thanks for letting us know. I struggle with installing mods (which is why I like to play the basic game).

@UnforcedError. Its not clear to me if the limiter will be research or GP production. We can always change civics now and chnage later if necessary when we have a clearer idea.

and this game too I had to delete and reinstall the mod 3 times so far.
Why? Just rename the folder. You have the default mod as "Fall from Heaven 2", rename it to "Fall from Heaven 2 orig", install it again with Tholal's modmod, you now have both "Fall from Heaven 2" and "Fall from Heaven 2 orig" folders. Switch them as necessary. When needing to play default FFH, rename the former folder to "Fall from Heaven 2 tholal" while renaming the latter "Fall from Heaven 2".

Anyone still here? Or should I finish the whole game by myself? :p

I'm still here. Unforced Error posted a PPP then went quiet. If you want to take the next set then carry on or the game will just fade away.

I'm taking it, will play today.

Played 'till turn 333. Very sorry for that, but it was getting more tedious then entertaining at this point, and we were never in any danger anyway. Having to play 20-turn micro each day wouldn't be much fun for either of us, I'm afraid.

Bambur is not with us because I've switched to OO for a while to make Hannah trade Commune with Nature.

Continue producing the SoK's, move them, and rush-buy the final altar when it can be rushbought. I propose that your set should last until the end of the game.

My only significant mistake was overbuilding the Temples of Kilmorph, that prevent you from building the SoK's. I also made a half-hearted expedition to Keelyn's land that failed because of some unlucky odds in a row.

Too complicated for me. I could only manage 15 turns.
Spoiler :

Swopped to OO to keep Hannah friendly, no sox, no arete, no problem.

Hannah actually didn't research Optics until very late in the game. The AI was quite inept in this game, wasn't it? Flauros had been at war with us for some time, but he did nothing with his naval units other then some purely naval harassment with privateers, that's why I don't think that switching to OO was necessary. Not to mention the fact that the AI ignores most wonders completely.

Cardith summoned Basium, heh.

At least, Flauros managed to capture Tebryn's capital and vassalize him. And Keelyn had enough units to beat back my half-hearted invasion. And the Clan probably wasn't actually supposed to receive the Sons from the spell.

Anyway, good job.

When playing FFh2 without more naval AI you pretty much have to play one landmass maps.

The change that reduced the naval units' capacity by 1 in exchange for the crew promotions had bad implications for the AI.

I doubt it was that change. I remember Tholal wrote something about which AI the ships got. Also they probably do not build enough ships and do not value ship techs high enough.

I think they just gave up on making an AI that would be able to handle water maps.

Maybe by the time Kael merged an incomplete AI mod, things became more screwed up. However, before that I've seen naval invasions in increased-capacity ships.
