G-Minor 118

The submission date!!! It seems every submission submitted on 24th or 25th are rejected...

It might be the HOF Gauntlet filter, because the games themselves were accepted by the current update.

I'm sure someone on the HOF staff will fix it as soon as they are aware of the issue and debug it.

Everyone following this gauntlet is now aware of the issue, so there's probably no need to PM a HOF staff member, unless the issue goes unresolved (I meant unnoticed) for more than 24 hours. shulec's post clearly shows who the winners should be, unless there's some hidden settings mismatch.

Then, :trophy2nd:. I'm very satisfied by my progression pace after three gauntlets, obviously more satisfying than the last G-Major where I didn't even submit anything.

Congratulations everybody, we have had some nice discussions here. :goodjob:

I'd like to add my congratulations to everybody who took part - either in the games themselves or in the discussions.
This was one of the most interesting and educational of any gauntlets I have taken part in.
I started out by knowing next to nothing about how to get a fast cultural win at this level - and although my own improvement was nothing like as dramatic as some (Tachywaxon!!) I really have learned a lot. Just need to put it into practice!
Thanks to shulec, jesusin and Sun Tzu Wu in particular for their imparting of knowledge, strategy and tactics! Thanks to Tachywaxon for instigating a lot of the discussions.
Really enjoyable :goodjob:

Yep! It was a pleasure to spam posts like mad in every gauntlet I'm involved.

Perhaps (70 % of probability), later I'll do the write-up (just for you AgedOne as I promised) if I can make a decent recollection of the events. Some blunders frustrated me so much I just stopped taking screenshots. Of course, I'll pinpoint the errors themselves to avoid inducing you to wrong assumptions.

Now, I'm thinking...G-Major 91 (ughh too hard) or the strangely lengthy G-Minor 119 at Warlords :)crazyeye: I'm downgrading myself as I was used to play exclusively Emperor level before trying gauntlets). Settlers from tribal huts, ouch! Seems it will be kinda unbalanced competition.

Aye! But you asked lots of questions and that got everyone involved. Turned out to be very useful :)

Don't worry too much if you don't get around to it. I've got access to the save files and logs now, and have already started comparing the best games to my own . Some things hit me already: the food for your cities allowed better growth at around 1AD-500AD period, way beyond what I achieved. Big cities meant ability to run specialists. Tech rate was much higher than mine during that crucial period of paper-education-liberalism. We had been within a few turns of each other in researching CoL, Math, Aesthetics. By Music you had opened up a bit of a gap. By Liberalism you were 30 turns ahead of me!!
But that's just one aspect.
I suspect you were able to do the (a) religion spread (b) temples and (c) cathedral building much, much earlier than I did it.

Yes. I tend to agree with you there. Standard, Quick, Immortal Conquest makes it a lot harder than just winning a game at Immortal. I haven't tried it yet, and am unlikely to. Being a rubbish warmaker doesn't help either .
I was also a regular Emperor player in the HoF. Got my EQM at that level. It feels slightly embarrassing to drop down to the lowest levels (settler!) but I managed to get over it.
On the other hand, that is a valid point about popping settlers from huts! Separates the games by how many super-hut-pops you managed. But we did that in GMinor 116...

Anyway -this discussion is better over in the appropriate forum thread.
Maybe the GMinor. I'll have to see how interested I can get.

uh?! Where's my last submission!!!

Here's the aforementioned submission:

EDIT: Just looked; it is published and accepted and methinks the settings are right.
EDIT2: Come to think, where's Shulec's 1450 AD CV?
Damn. I did the update kind of late. I had to clear a lot of games out of the queue and forgot to update the gauntlet ending time for after I finished.

Here are the corrected results:

Gauntlet Results:
G-Minor 118 - Cultural, Prince, Large, Normal on Oasis with Hatshepsut
1st jesusin 1370 AD
2nd tachywaxon 1390 AD
3rd shulec 1450 AD

Sorry for my mistake.

Thanks for validating that my advice was useful, even though I did not play. (Sometimes my advice is not so good or even bad when I fail to play the gauntlet.)

Thanks to Tachywaxon for instigating a lot of the discussions.
Really enjoyable :goodjob:

Thanks much for asking questions Tachywaxon! It's a great way to start discussions where everyone learns something.
