"The political regime of the USA is not democratic" - is it better now?

its still more democratic than russia, there are more checks and balances on the power of the american government, they dont have a major problem with press freedom, dissidents dont mysteriously die

The world (/&%$# up with Kosovo, now every jerk and his dog can do whatever they want and ask for a country. Funny how when Russia uses US tactics everyone suddenly panics, and when US does it, we hardly flinch.

Russia pulled a smart move with this, and if the Security Council bursts to tears and cries for mommy, they`ll just veto it.

very interesting Sudeten comparison!
But does anybody here know did Czechs kill civilian germans in the area just day before germans entered this area or not?

I wanted to say the US is not a democratic state now.
PS Georgia becoming a fascist state...

Yep, that is the best evidence I've seen so far to drop high explosives on innocent civilians.

Georgia had 2000 troops in Iraq ?

Georgia has called its 2,000 troops home from Iraq to help in the fighting against Russia in the breakaway province of South Ossetia and asked the U.S. military to help transport them. The official says that the U.S. military has agreed to their request and “some flights have already begun.”

Shouldn't US troops be following right behind them?

American Troops or heck NATO Troops should not be engaging Russian Troops in Georgie.

While it is sad, the tiny nation of Georgia is being bullied into Submission by mighting Russia, sending troops will just enraged a war. Somemore, Georgia, is an unimportant region to the US and much of Europe. Its protection is not needed for the NATO cannot see the benefits of protecting Georgia and only the consequence of doing so.

I am not suggesting we dive right in and start offensive operations against Russia, but if we turn our backs on Georgia, how can other allies trust us in the future? We should send the 6th fleet into the Black Sea immediately and use our own airlift capability to get those Georgian troops home asap.

They've (Georgia) sent their sons and daughters into harms way with our own in Iraq. And now when they need our help, our President spends the last few days watching the Olympics from the stands? What's next? Do we let the Russians bully the UK into giving over Northern Ireland?

I'm pretty sure the UK would hand over Northern Island just to piss off the Irish.

Unfortunately, this will be a drop in the bucket. Saving what's left of the Georgian navy and protecting the coast, and getting some badly needed troops home, won't stop Russia from doing whatever it wants to the Georgians. The United States has no military forces capable of intervening, because they're all tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan. The European Union does not have the political will. Georgia's subjugation will send a clear signal to other prospective Western allies: We cannot save you from the bad guys.

What's next? Do we let the Russians bully the UK into giving over Northern Ireland?

The eastern Ukraine or Crimea is probably next.

Georgia had 2000 troops in Iraq ?

yes..actually at first they where only bringing 1,000 home, guess this has changed
Georgia has the 3rd largest military presence in Iraq, behind the US and Britain
Georgia is a key US ally

Georgia is not important enough for EU and American forces to intervene. And Russia is too powerful for NATO to antagonise it.

This War has made me kinda believe Ill live through a WWIII

Georgia is an unimportant region to the US and much of Europe? You obviously don't understand US or Europe Polocies then
Georgia(the caucus regions) is where Russian and Western Influence meet, it is also where the only oil pipeline is in the region that Doesn't pass through Russia is
Not to mention Georgia has the 3rd largest force in Iraq, behind US and Britain
They are a key American Ally in the Caucus, as well as a key European Ally

The entire reason why Georgia hasnt been admitted to the NATO is out of fear of angering Moscow. Georgia's importance is outweighed by Russian consequence

During the NATO summit in Bucharest George W. Bush called for Georgia to be allowed to join the Membership Action Plan (MAP). The alliance decided not to offer Georgia a MAP due to opposition from several countries, led by Germany and France, who feared the decision would anger Russia
