Give Bad Advice: CIV Edition

68. Settlers, Workers, Scouts, and Explorers are the best units for waging war.

69. Nuclear weapons are the best units for conducting diplomacy. :)

71. Don't play the map: think at the best strategy beforehand, and apply it at all costs... ie keep applying that method which won you a game some time ago, on that particular map, with this particular leader...

72. Play as fast as u can. Taking the time to think at different options (that's for newbies) might disturb you from applying your absolutly perfect (obviously made before opening civ) plan.

73. If the plan fails (omg ): open cfc and whine about Firaxis or reload. No one has ever learnt something from mistakes.

74. Knowing how to implement the "buddhist typhon" strategy is the tiny thing which separates immortal from deity players, keep practicing.

75. Always build your cities as far apart as possible, never allowing your BFC tiles to overlap. In fact, don't even let your BFC tiles from different cities touch each other, just to make sure.

76. Place a tiny city or two on the ice and tundra on the far side of another civilization. You'll have them surrounded!

77. For new players always play on deity then work your way down.
78. Never build workers they cant attack the enemy.
79. Always make sure all other leaders are furious with you.
80. Give away technologies to the most advanced civs.
81. If you accidentally build defensive units make sure you delete them when you are at war.
82. When at war always attack with workers and settlers as these are far stronger than infantry
83. Never be the 1st civ to get liberalism as teh free tec is never worth it.
84. Never expand in case you get some useful resources
85. If you are Rome and have iron always give it away so other civs can build swordsmen
86. Make sure you have a tiny army.
87. If playing on a terra map never try and get astronomy
88. Always demand tecs of the strongest nations.
89. If you have to settle make sure you settle were there is no resources
90. Declare war on everyone then start building cultural buildings after you delete your army.

91. never get oil as a resource as the extra units you can build make the game complicated
92. never upgrade your units no matter how rich you are.
93. if another civ offers you a free tec always decline
94. always be the last to complete the tec tree.
95. if you get your own religion always delcare war on the civs that have the same religion.then they will all adopt your religion and give you free tecs as long as you have the smallest army.
96. make sure you can get all your units to go on strike
97. always attack enemy cities with warriors.all you will need is 2 no matter how many machine guns they have.
98. never have any vassals.let other civs have them as vassals.
99. always delete great people.they are useless.
100. never build pyramids especially if you have stone.

Palaces are good - so build one in each city in turn

don't explore with scouts/warriors, that's what explorers are for. Beeline Compass and build explorers. That way, if they find a goody hut, they will get better results from it.

105. (From the original thread): Always build the Great Library 1 turn before you disover Scientific Method.

107. Islam's monasteries are the best.

54. Combat odds/results even out eventually.
So, if you want to be sure of winning a battle: first attack with all your weakened units (they were going to die anyway) then attack with the units you want to win.
The odds gods will say "Oh, he just lost four in a row, let's let him win a couple"
In other words, use Civ Rev tactics in Civ IV! (23:00)

Palaces are good - so build one in each city in turn

That's exactly what I used to think when I first started playing Civ III.

1. Always try to annoy Montezuma and Ragnar as much as possible. It's not as if anything bad will happen, right?

Actually, the way I look at it: why bother getting Monty or Shaky to pleased? They're gonna declare anyway!
