How do I install a mod

I have never used a Civ IV mod before and just downloaded one. Could someone please tell me what I'm supposed to do with it now? It's a zip file (that I unzipped) and I have BTS.

Unzip the Mod in the BtS\Mods folder (something like C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods).

It's the place where you should find the official Mods, Afterworld, Charlemagne, etc.

Launch the game and choose "Load a Mod" in the Advanced Menu. You can also create a direct shortcut.
