Iron and Blood - Game Thread

Empire of Tawatinsuyo:

Capital: Peru

History: After their orignal empire was captured by Spain, the Incans suffered cruel treament. During a revoultuion 1827 they defeated the Spainish and established a new empire, under Atahulpa III, their emperor. They has many disputes with the Spanish colonies who, under the revoultion, broke free from Spain, and formed their own countries. Eventually, the Incan people united Peru.

Leader: Atahulpa III

Government: The emperor rules the Incans, who they believed he is a god. The people are divied into 4 classes, peasants, merchants, soldiers, and priests. As the empire expands, its divied into territories. Each territory has a governor. The way a new emperor is crowned is by a heredity royal line. If the royal line ran out. A new family would be picked from the governors.

Religon: 55% worship the Incan gods, 25% Roman Catholic, and 10% are Islamic 10% Jewish.

Army: All 16+ males have to recieve miltary training, and can be called into battle at any time.

People: 75% are of Incan orgin, 20% Spanish, 5% other. The Priest are the highest group, besides royal family, and are responible for the proper worship of the gods. Then it is soldiers, who know if they have, give their life for the emporer. Merchants run shops, make trades, and are generally some of the richest in Tawatinsuyo lands. The peasents work the farms, in the factories, and the mines. The non-recongized group are the slaves, captured from eneimies and most of Spanish decent.

National Goals: To control the European Powers that wronged the natives of this land.

I'll edit this up as the game goes on:

Nation name: Imperial Russian Empire
Flag:

National Colour: Yellow
Capital: St. Petersburg (Russia)

Government: Absolute Monarchy
Leadership: Russia is led by the all powerful 'Kan' - a king by any other name. Currently the title is held by Sharuminar, a leader from the Great Fracture of Russia, an exceptional leader when he means to be, though is rumoured to have fallen victim to hubris or, worse, fits of madness.

Day-to-day running of the provinces of Russia are handled by the Noble Council - representatives from the nobility of Russian provinces convene in Moscow to debate governmental process. Entirely self-governed, and with the Kan based in St. Petersburg rarely is anything decided. At best the Noble Council maintains the status-quo over the provinces, but usually it is a show of ridiculous plots and petty side-struggles to outdo one another and gain the Kan's favour.

Population: The population of Russia vastly outnumber those of any western country, but suffer far more to poverty. Over 4/5 of the population belong to the peasantry - labourers and farmers. The 'middle-class' - the clergy, the merchants and the landowners, dominate the remaining fifth. The nobility - the richest in the land and the leaders of all Russia - represent the smallest of the classes.

Religion: Orthodox Christianity is the state religion. The Kan is assumed leader and defender of the church, following from the former Tsars, but since 1828 this has not been formalised. There is no restrictions on other religions being practiced.

Military: "The Russian soldier is a paradox - the greatest and worst product of the Russian Army. He displays dedication, strength and bravery that would shame any other fighter in Europe, he displays the sensibilities, learnings of tactics and finesse of a drunken lout when the tavern has shut."

Despite a brief resurgence of excellency during the Napoleonic Wars, the resulting lull in major wars and the Great Fracture has resulted in the Russian Army being mostly composed of massive numbers of poorly trained infantrymen. There are exceptions, of course - the cavalry, being mostly composed (and funded) by nobility, is usually of a high quality - and where units have been well trained through the government or through experience they display greatness.

The navy may as well not be mentioned, being as it is groups of coastal-defence fleets designed simply to protect major ports and territorial waters.

Description: Great and mighty Imperial Russia, ruled by the glorious, handsome and all-round decent chap Kan Sharuminar, has established itself on the territories in eastern Europe. Her people, when not idolising their monarch, work to better the glorious motherland, be it toiling hard on the farms, contributing to the already outstanding cultural developments, or training with great zeal to keep up the strength of the overwhelming national armies.

Oh grand and noble Russia, what more can be done to better an already great power? From his beautiful palace in St. Petersburg, Kan Sharuminar promises to try.
Official description of Russia, as written by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

A more accurate description would involve mention of a very traditional monarchy. Despite the overwhelming numbers of lower-class members, power is fully controlled by the aristocracy and, above all, the Kan. Though it is true Russia has made a number of cultural and scientific advances, it is still playing 'catch-up' with the traditional European states. This is only really evident if one were to look at Russia outside of the upper-class societies however, and who would want to do that?

Finally, Russia's military is truly vast, though woefully underdeveloped. Quantity over quantity could be the unnofficial motto of the Russian armed forces, and any invader will quickly find that for every soldier they kill, ten more will take his place.

GREAT BRITAIN

Capital: British isles (england, scotland, and ireland come as a package correct?)

Color: Either bright red, or deep blue. if neither are available, go for gray.

Description and flag to come later.

National Goals:

1. Retain the largest Navy in the world, preferably out umbering the second and third biggest navies combined.

2. Colonize any open space in canada and africa, plus India if possible.

3. Maintain the balance of power in Europe.

4. Ally with at least 2 minor powers and keep them safe.

5. Discover nukes first (assuming they will be included if the game stretches on that far).

The Government is divided between the monarchy, the War Board, and parliament. Parliament has an ever expanding number of seats, but is currently at 227. The seats by party go as follows:
Conservative: 80, Everywhere. Conservatism is dominant in the country.
Communist: 18, Has a very strong prescense in Ireland, although there are 2 seats around Edinburghs Suburbs.
Liberal: 66, All around the country, although strongest in Scotland.
Nationalist: 25, Usually around Oxford, Birmingham, and in Wales.
Ultranationalist: 22, Almost exclusively in wales.
Socialist: 16, mostly in districts near York and the Border of Scotland, although there are a few scattered ones along the English Channel.

A simple majority vote is required to pass the bill to the current monarch, who along with one relative (Must be an offspring if said offspring is of age) must sign and approve the bill before it is implemented. If the same bill is rejected 3 times by the monarchy, then They are allowed to change it and send it back to parliament.

Much of the social policy is around combat, mostly because of the humiliating defeats we have suffered this past century. Periodic tournaments are held for shooting and swordsmanship. The War Board is the legislative body that votes on all bill concerning Warfare and/or Military Issues passed by Parliament. the navy is considered to be for the best of the best, but the army training is very rigorous, ensuring that for the next war Britain is involved in, they shall not lose.

Description: The German Empire is a Federal Monarchy led by the current Monarch Friedrich Wilhelm III, while the Kaiser does not retain absolute powers, he does retain many powers that other world leaders do not, and while the legislature of the nation the Reichstag exists it does not have any formal right to dismiss or install governmental officials. It's sole purpose is to vote on legislature for the Empire, but before these bills become law the Kaiser must approve them.
The German Empire was formed when the Kingdom of Prussia and the various German states merged together following a vote by the people of Germany... With the lead state of the German Empire being Prussia the Empire inherited the Prussian King (to be renamed Kaiser).

Current Kaiser: Frederick William was born in Potsdam in 1770 as the son of Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia and Frederika Louisa of Hesse-Darmstadt, he became King of Prussia in 1797 upon the death of his father, in 1810 following the vote of the people of the various German States he became Kaiser of Germany.

Kan’ Sharuminar, Ruler of all Russia and Great General of Her Armies, returned to the Winter Palace in a good mood. The Baltic Alliance was now an official entity, the treaty just signed in Moscow confirming the nations of Imperial Russia, the German Empire and the Socialist Republic of Odin as part of a full defensive and trading pact. In one fell swoop, the Baltic Sea was a protected zone to all Russian trade ships.

In turn, it meant Russia no longer had any need to secure the neighbouring province of Livonia. Scandinavia was welcome to it if it meant there was no need to develop a dedicated Russian fleet for the Baltic. Let St. Petersburg be the sole naval port to access Russia, let the increased merchant activity there boost the splendour of an already great city.

“I want a military parade!” the Kan declared as he entered the Grand Hall of the palace. It wasn’t to anyone in particular, but several servants hurried out in response anyway, and Sharuminar was confident he would be seeing a grand march through St. Petersburg within the month. He had long since learnt simply shouting instructions out loud was the most effective way to get things done. At least since that incident a few years ago when there was no-one nearby and he didn’t receive the personal frigate he had demanded. Several aides had discovered the folly of ignoring him, even if they had been in Smolensk at the time and on a holiday by his command. Still, the serfs always seemed to enjoy a public hanging, especially if it involved the nobility.

A new Grand Army of Russia! What a marvellous way to start a fresh era of peace and prosperity in Europe. And what better way to utilise such a force than to have them begin a tour of the southern border provinces. It would bewilder and entrance the nearby Ukrainians, a crucial first step in bringing them under his enlightened rule.

It had better, at any rate, and the Kan quietly chuckled to himself, though he cut short as he took in the ‘splendour’ of the hall once again. He sighed - Emperor Alexander had had such a terrible taste in paintings. Armies could wait - for now he had to redecorate. The entire palace if he had to!

The Second French Republic

Capital: Paris
President: Napoleon Bonaparte II
Prime Minister: Jacques Buzot
Population: 32,814,793
Color: Navy

History: After the Napoleonic wars, Napoleon was exiled for a second time. He managed to escape and established the Second Republic. His new French constitution gave the people a Parliament and a Prime Minister to manage internal affairs.

Styling himself as President Napoleon instead of Emperor, he only maintained power as the Head of State and Commander in Chief, being the brilliant tactician that he was. Any declaration of war would have to get parliaments approval, however.

Code Napoleon was reestablished and a new bill of rights was passed. This one gave more freedom to women as Napoleon saw their increasing role in the economy as they took factory jobs. However, Napoleon died on May 5, 1826 in Versailles. His handpicked successor, his own son Napoleon II, easily one the presidential election and became the second President of France.

National Goals: Become the one and only European superpower.

Does the money put into Economic Dominance only apply 1 turn?

Like if I threw all my cash at Indochina this turn and next turn, would I get a 20% chance of defection this turn and a 40% chance next turn?

Same question.

Tailless, does donated IC get 2 efficiency penalties (one for the sending party and 1 for the receiving) or just one?

No, whatever IC you send is the IC the other guy receives (unless the guy is blockaded)

I was thinking that Economic Dominance is a bit poorly thought out as it is currently. I'll need to fix it, which I will do post up in a little while.

(Also, why does Scandinavia have a ton of little dots now?)

It shouldn't. I'll fix that come update time.

If they are blockaded, then does the guy blockading get a chance of getting that IC? Therre must be a chance that some blockading ship boards the transports...
