Israel vote today.
I have voted just now, and still there is no thread..
now there is.

Too many parties. Many votes will be lost to parties I haven't even mentioned..
Here are the parties involved, so you wil have it organized, in decending order of mandates (seats) as currently expected by polls (I avaraged the 3 main polls):

Format: { Hebrew party name (mandates by polls) : what does the party stand for }

Kadima (35) : Main Party - Sharon split from Likud to form this center party, now Ehud Olmert is leading it. It supports a wider pullout from the territories, but is considered center.

Avoda (19) : Labor party - main left wing party. (Rabin's party), nowthe leader is Amir Peretz, who ofcourse support a further pullout, and promises to reform the economy and give a 1000$ minimum wage..

Likud (14) : Conservative party - main right wing party, currently lost most it's votes after Sharon left it. Benjamin Netanyahoo (whom I hate deeply) is leader now. He is against the pullout with all the right winged.

Israel Beyteinu (11) : A right wing party emerging from dissapointed Likud voters and Israeli Ruissians who believe it's leader, Avigdor Liberman.

Ihud Leumi + Mafda"l (11) : A union of 2 right wing parties (with some jewish values).
They formed the union to have more votes to oppose the pullout.

Sha"s (11) : Religious Spharadim (jews who originated from Spain and the surrounding).
They are promising heaven for voters, and are taking moneys just for their public ignoring many ethics on the way. Their leader in the Knesset is Eli Ishay, but their religious leader is some dumbass named Rabi Ovadia Yosef, and he has believers. They are also presuming to be a party for the poor people.. liars!

Meretz (5) : Liberal Left wing party, more left than Labor, but not communist.
Supports socialism and human rights, the pullout, and seperatiopn of religion from state, and for forming a constitution for Israel. Leader is Yossi Beylin. MY VOTE :)

Bible Judaism (5) : Orthodox Polish jews party. They always want to control the budget to get some more money..

The following will be on the edge between existance and not :
raa"m , bala"d, pensioners, raa"sh - 2 mandates each, where raa"m is a "united arab list", bala"d is another arab list "National Democratic alliance", pensioners are people looking for more pension... and raa"sh is a right wing "more rights for males" party.

Can I ask who you voted for?

I voted for Meretz.
We vote only for a party -
Ariel Sharon is in a comma, and his replacement (permanent one..) is Ehud Olmert, who shares about the same views.

Boogaboo, isn't the Meretz the party behind the Geneva Initiative?
Yes, Yossi Beylin was behind it, but also Peres I think... anyway I don't really like beylin, but still, they are the better choice.

I would have voted for them if I were Israeli. It is likely that a peace agreement would be some thing similiar to that if that happens, It's unfortunate more blood and suffering from both sides has to be done before it becomes reality. Anyhow, I hope Kadima will find a solution to all this nightmare

I'm just asking because we had a dead politician on the list a couple of years ago.

From the numbers you posted, it looks like a left-center coalition in favour the pullout is possible. Is there any animosity between the concerned parties, which would prevent such a coalition?

All depends on which kind of coalition Ehud Olmert will do - left or center.
The possibilities look quite open for him.
Some small parties may get in.
I personally hope kadima and labor will take Meretz and it will do.
Otherwise they may go with some of the religious parties like Sha"s.

Glad to see this is getting some attention. From what I hear, this will be one of the most important elections in Israeli history. Unless I'm wrong on that point?

One of the most important elections, with inexplicably, one of the lowest voter turnouts.

Sounds like a recent US election...

I don't think anyone seriously expects Kadima not to win in a landslide. Given what the polls have been saying, low turnout is understandable. The outcome is all but determined.

Damn it, I am only 4 months too young to vote in this elections. If I could have, I would have voted for the labor party(avoda).
This is indeed the lowest voting percentage ever which is wierd, because this goverment will probably decide our permanent borders. People are probably fed up with politics and empty promises.
Anyway, these are the current results, portrayed by TV main channel in Israel:
Kadima - 22
Avoda - 22
Israel beytenu - 13
Likud - 11
Shas - 10
Leumi Mafdal - 9
Senior party - 6(!)
and some other minor parties

This are pretty promising results.. I look forward to see what the next four years may hold for us.

That's 32 for Kadima, not 22.
