Pre-turn:
We have LOTS of territory and a HUGE number of cities. Our military is quite a bit smaller than I would have expected. Battle losses must have been brutal
Why did we ever settle new Teo?!? It's a completely pointless city.
IBT: Units whip by faster than I can see. WTF is Animate Battles turned off? I don't have a clue what just happened.
Cattletown deposes us, taking 2 units with it
T1:
Looks like we lost some units near Delhi.
Retake Cattletown with 2 Cannon and a Cav.
Ping a Byz ship W of the capital
A bunch of ships are on automove! Please don't do this in a succession game. It makes it really hard to pick up on the next turn.
Lose a Privateer sinking an Indian ship near Cattletown
And...end of turn? No, I don't believe it. I go looking for units to wake up.
Army lands at Arnhem and captures a stack of cannons. The ones that we lost in an earlier turnset, I take it?
IBT:
Byz suicides a Cav on the army at Delhi.
They also land a Crusader on the little island. Wowza.
T2:
Cannons redline, and eMDI kills the Crusader. Leader time!
Ship and cannons bombard, then Sword army drops to 9/14 killing the top defender in Arnhem
IBT:
Byz lands another Cav on small island.
Delhi riots
Sloppy of me.
T3:
Cannons ping and cav kills the invader cav.
At Arnhem, cannons and ship redline the musket...
Cav army rides down the musket and kills the LB there for good measure. The city is now in our hands.
IBT:
Dutch want to talk. We ignore them.
Byz cav retreats from one of our Muskets
A second one kills it.
Arnhem riots (resistance ends)
T4:
Privateer attacks on enemy Galleons go 1/1
Cav kills enemy stray Cav (and then gets covered by an Army)
IBT:
Dutch move a HUGE stack into The Hague, where we just landed.
Someone (Byz?) loses a Frigate to one of our patrolling Privateers
Byz loses a Cav at Delhi. I was nervous there for a second...
Byz also lands a Cav next to Lahore.
Arnhem deposes us
T5:
We retake Arnhem with 1 Cannon, 1 Frigate, and 1 Swordsman. 7 resisters
I see the first Byz Rifleman!
Kill a redlined Byz cav near Delhi
Lose a Cav killing a second one
Kill a third easily
Last stray cav near Lahore falls to a Knight army
IBT:
Lots of movement, no action.
T6:
Lose a Privateer harrying the Byz coast
Army goes down to 14/17 killing that first Rifle.
Sword army kills Dutch Musket.
IBT:
Byz cavs attack Delhi: One kills the Musket, one suicides vs. the top 3/4 Cav.
T7:
Army kills LB near Delhi
Knight/cav army kills 2 Cavs near Delhi
Cav kills stray Cav
eCav kills stray Cav
IBT:
More troop movements. Byz are headed for Delhi, but they can't reach it this turn.
T8:
Kill the Byz cav near Delhi
IBT:
India lands a settler pair on Small Island.
T9:
Move troops into place, but I don't kill the Indian settler pair.
Bombard and kill 1 defender in The Hague.
IBT:
Byz attacks Lahore via a sneaky path! They retreat.
Byz also lands a Cav on Cattletown island.
India builds Kolhapur near the north end of the island.
T10:
eCav rides down redlined Cav from last turn.
We redline a Musket near The Hague and kill it.
Settle the town of Ironhill near the Indian new town.
Bombard...but then narrowly lose a Privateer to a Dutch Galleon.
Near Delhi:
Army kills Rifle
rCav kills LB
Second Privateer sinks vs. a Byz Galleon
Handoff notes:
I didn't make much forward progress, instead preferring to build up forces at our foothold. One Army can cover the advance of a big stack of Cavs and take Calcutta in a couple of turns. More Muskets are in the pipeline to help defend new conquests.
Watch for more landings on Cattletown island -- and take Kolhapur when appropriate. It's probably worth rushing a couple more units on that island.
The Dutch front is kind of rough. We can smack down anything that pops up next to us, but we don't have enough attack units to keep forward momentum. It will take another couple of ships dropping off troops before we can make a serious dent there.
I switched basically ALL of our builds to military. At this stage, more cavs -- even reg. cavs -- will bring us victory more quickly than Privateers. Byz ships haven't been bothering our Galleons.
