JOE-07 - Surfer Dudes!

I'm willing to give ICS a try if everyone else is. I've been experimenting with packing cities in tighter is SP games and I've seen definite improvements in my game. Some of it I think is down to the fact I'm now forced to run a lot of specialists because I can't work tiles...a by product of this is that I also specialise cities better, plus I get tonnes more GP than I used to.

I can't improve on your dotmap, so am happy to go with that also, and go ahead and whip the Settler. It may be worth doing that immediately and letting any overflow go into the Archer otherwise we'll start losing hammers on the already half built Settler.

Going north seems sensible after grabbing the stone. The only reason I can see the AI settling south any time soon is if Iron turns up there (that Copper site is probably too far away for Mao to bother with at the moment).

I don't mind playing ICS...
HOWEVER!
ICS needs a lot of micromanageùent, so please keep an eye out on our cities.

I am still here. I am not sure about ICS but then again I have never tried it, so this would be a good learning experience. Colossus is a definite wonder we must have IMO. If we can snag the Great Lighthouse as well we will have plenty of income to support the ICS. I also think that unless Quotey posts a got it shortly you should take fuRRie, again IMHO.

I was thinking the same thing Sansman, i'll give him a couple more hours.
I've sent a PM to oth JesusOnEez and Quotey, to see wether or not they respond.

No problem Quotey, good to see you back in action !

Lets get this game geared up! :D

Turn 0 (67)

67? I'll play us to a nice even number. 70.

:p

Whip the settler.

Turn 3 (70)

IW comes in... we have Iron in London. Nice. Start on Mysticism for the new city.

Found York in the Fish/Stone position.

Turn 6 (73)

A chop of a forest in London's BFC goes to a work boat in York. London has good prod.

Turn 9 (76)

Myst comes in, start The Wheel because it's important. I guess.

Turn 12 (79)

Give London's second fish to York.

Suggesting to build a settler after the worker in London. Are we going with the ICS dotmap or the normal spacing dotmap?

Heh, I just came on to post a 'skip Quotey' post but I see you've played!

Great that we have Iron! At least now I can calm down about getting units capable of defending against barbs. :)

I'd go with the ICS dotmap, I think everyone seems quite keen to try it, and like I say, I'm experimenting with it in SP gaems so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out here.

Got it, i'll play later today, I've got some RL issues to handle first.
I'm not expecting anything special during my set :)

Finally managed to play...
Uneventful as expected, did not play that good though.

T1: Discover QSH's second city.
T3: Wheel => Masonry (to connect the stone, looked like the best)
London: Worker => Settler
Kill a Barbarian Warrior with the Archer (2/2 XP unpromoted)
T9: Great Wall build by QSH
Whip Settler for 2 Pop => Archer
T10: Masonry => AH (can be changed)
We get the Axeman event (All Axes are promoted with Shock)

I got but will not be able to play until tomorrow at the earliest. Which may be good since I have some questions and would like the group's input.

  1. The Great Lighthouse? I think we should try and build it. We have a second city and a settler ready to build a third. What's everyone's opinion?
  2. I think we should settle south with the third city since Qin has settled towards the south as well. I would hate to see him grab a coastal city that blocks us. Though I admit settling north will grow faster. BTW: is everyone happy with the city location north and south?
  3. I think we should switch from Animal Husbandry to Sailing. We would grow faster with lighthouses in our cities and we should develop a navy to explore and help expand our empire.
I await everyones input.

1.Great Lighthouse is Possible, we need the stone connected ASAP though.
2. I prefer the north spot, as it gioves us an extra Health resrouce (Pigs), but I'd like to hear the input of other team members.
3. Sailing is fine by me, AH was just a placeholder, no beakers invested yet.

There aren't any resources to the south other than in the ice. It looks like Qin has enough land to settle without going into the ice for some time. Plus Saladin could grab our Pigs at any moment!

Switch is fine. BTW, the GLH isn't sped by any resource. Other than wood :p

indeed, forget GLH doesn't get build bonus...
It's only 200(standard) Hammers, so with some chops it'll be finished fast enough.

I think the plan is clear, go ahead and play Sansman.

(Geuss my moving the settler upwards was a smart mvoe in the end :D)

I'll go with the majority...out-pacing (or at least attempting to) Qin's expansion rate is going to be a priority at the moment...I think he's protective and with the Great Wall as well, he'll be a pain to peg back...nice to get the Shock promotions.

I'm also for the GL but even more so the Colossus. 4 commerce sea tiles? Yes please!

I'm for settling north to Saladin's border and then we can start talking war. :)
