More Colonization Previews, General Release Date Confirmed

A few more previews for Colonization, some from E3, were published over the past few days. The most notable is one from Gamespy, an excerpt of which you can find below. It is two pages long and covers the founding fathers aspect of the game quite well, though it contains no new screenshots. Additional previews are available from GameZone and NZGamer.

Around 52 "founding fathers" are featured in the game; these are prominent colonists who can give you big benefits if they decide to join your cause. Each founding father will choose to join only one nation, and they'll only join a nation that meets certain criteria, so you can adjust your strategy to woo certain individuals. For example, convince Betsy Ross to join your cause and you'll get a major boost to textile production. Other leaders might give you religious, political, economic or military bonuses.

On Apolyton, Locutus revealed that Firaxis confirmed the release date for Colonization as September 2008, possibly putting the actual day as close as just a month and a few weeks away!

Play.com had release date for 26th September on site. Would seem about right from what Firaxis have said.

It does seem the game is fully up and running anyway. Gives Civ rev a month of sales lime light too.
