Information about threads associated with each individual TSG -- Must Read if you are new to our Game of the Month!
Spoiler :
Please note: If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.
TSG Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don’t be afraid to ask questions). It’s also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Please don’t post any game-related info once you open and play the save. Instead use the next thread.
Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. We encourage players to use the spoiler tags for screenshot. During the time the game is active, please do not post any information concerning the game outside of the spoiler threads including screen shots, videos, or recorded/live-cast Let's Plays on other websites.
After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.
Results and Congratulations thread: We will create a separate thread with the results at the end of the one month submission period (sorted by date and score). We will issue medals to the top 3 winners (based on earliest date finished). There are no long-term records kept for these results, they are just given out to top finishers to reward their efforts.

File Upload System
We have a game file upload system you can find here. Please use it to upload your completed first attempt by saving the game on the turn after your victory or defeat. (by using the "lemme play one more turn" feature) Please note: you must submit your game on the turn following Victory. If you continue to play, the game overwrites the data and your submission could be rejected by the submission system.
This game runs for a month and ends Novemberber 1st, 2017.

Don't want to lose the river nor the mountain, and would welcome the (eventual) salt, all of which I get with a settle-in-place. Would like the hill, too, but then the salt will be REALLY delayed, I won't be able to work it, and I can't even buy it just for the lux.

What's in the fog southeast of the hill? Anything that might offset the value of the salt? First instinct is to move the Warrior to the hill (east of the Settler), to see if settling there brings some other advantage to compensate for losing the salt.

But wait, what if @Knowtalent put something valuable in the fog NORTHeast, through all that jungle?

So, I'll accept the certainty of a T-1 founding, move the Settler east to the hill, and move the Warrior NW to the jungle-hill, and we shall see what we shall see!

(Move the Settler first!!! Shouldn't bump a Barb that quick, but one never knows!)

So culture is the designated VC right?

Just to confirm, newer players might be confused... as it also says "there is NO preferred VC" in the announcement but I take it that's just a copy-and-paste error?

Just downloaded this. It's on epic speed and neither quick combat nor quick movement defaults to enabled.

Just downloaded the file and a lot of the settings are different from those posted? E.g. mapsize, speed, map type

Warrior to the hill SE of Settler. SIP unless I see coast or a NW. 3rd ring Salt will be cheap to pick up w/ the UA.

Edit to say that I find that Map Type is Pangea Plus.
Map Size is Small (so that defaults to 6 AI and 12 CS)
Game Pace is Epic.
Raging Barbarians.

I don’t think I have ever played Epic pace. Usually slower pace is paired with larger maps. Interesting!

Never tried epic speed before. I probably won't have the patience to finish. Maybe if I can pull off SS...

Just got swarmed by Monte in a Cultural Immortal game I was playing. So I'm going to try this one; glad its Emperor, dropping down one notch should allow the win.

Hmmm. The start file for this game wasn't uploaded to the GOTM server, so the database doesn't know it exists. If anyone has tried to submit a save, you will have seen an error page. I have now uploaded the file, so the submission system should work.

Thanks for the heads up AlanH! I've submitted my game but it was quite lonely there. Probably my only chance of winning gold :D

How does it happen that so many of the details are wrong? Speed and level are not minor changes.

Might you please repeat this favor for GotM164? Thanks!

I've uploaded TSG 164 with a closing date of 5 December
