With double the trade routes, you can't go wrong with Venice in a one city challenge game. Right? I guess we'll find out in this epic fight to... a diplomatic victory?

Here is the playlist and game setup for this LP series:

One City Challenge, Emperor Difficulty, Archipelago Map Type, Standard Map Size, Standard Game Pace

Civilization V: Brave New World - Let's Play Venice Playlist

I hope you all enjoy the series. I'll update this thread with a list of all the episodes when everything is uploaded.

I'd posted over on YouTube about my games with these settings, but I figured I'd pop over here and elaborate a bit. Bear in mind, I'm not a very good Civ player, but I enjoy the game nonetheless. :)

Game 1 went smooth, if not as quickly as your LP did (turn 350 diplo victory). Don't recall all the civs in this game, but I do know Greece and Japan got wiped out by other civs before the endgame, which was fun to watch. :)

Game 2, however... ugh. Currently turn 267, with me (as Venice), Egypt, China, Polynesia, India, The Celts, Sweden, and France.

Polynesia settled on my island early in the game, but was quite friendly for the first 220 turns or so. DoWed me around turn 240, so I pushed him back and razed his city before making peace. Naturally, that saw me get slapped with warmonger penalties with Polynesia , Egypt, India, and Sweden. I denounced Polynesia at that point, for backstabbing me out of the blue (which naturally got me denounced in return).

A few turns later, the latter three also denounced me when I refused to denounce the Celts, so it's not looking good (they're all Hostile, except Sweden who's Guarded), but we'll see if I can still pull off victory. :p

Edit: Game 2, turn 409 diplomatic victory... terrible, but a win is a win. :(

Well you did the right thing with polynesia. This is what I HATE about the warmongering penalties in this game. You did the right thing all the way by having him declare war on you. You then razed his city during the war HE declared, and YOU get the warmongering penalty. And on top of that, the other AIs will hold a "warmongering" grudge with you for the REMAINDER of the game...

Anyways good job on the win! :p
