Did most of the forum just vanish? (like, pages of forums vanished for me)

EDIT: For example, OT used to have hundreds of pages, but now it only has 8...

Look on the upper left "Display Options" where you select how to sort threads.

If you're only showing threads from the past few weeks, you're not going to see as many pages as if you show all threads from ever.
