It was very satisfying - especially after the early Ancient stuff vs Redcoat battles where our units struggled to make a scratch.

I did a quick count including our Lizzie and other odnut expansions and I only get about 810 tiles. What am I missing?

The victories screen says we have 52.91% of the land (and there are 1784 total). I haven't tried to do a manual count.

The tile count thing is hard to figure out. There is the land total on the F9 Demo screen. There is the land count in our score (which is delayed by some turns). For some reason, it seems that there is a delay on the F9 screen as well. One time I was trying NOT to trip domination and did after several turns even though a border never popped. We'll have to keep an eye on it. 131 > 127, but it's very close. If we can capture some Mansa/HC cities we'd have a margin. Plus we won't have to wait for a long time for cities to come out of revolt if we can plan and bomb a city somewhere.

Yeah, it's tight, although there are other tiles we could get with a bit more work.
I think the F9 Demo screen is frozen to the start of the turn, but I'm not sure since I haven't looked at the code. I think the F8 Victory screen is up-to-the-minute accurate.

btw, you can steal another civ's tile, without a border pop.

I'm happy enough to play it out.
We just eliminated about 10 :mad: in war weariness from every city, and have picked up extra happiness resources, so losing Military Police won't hurt a bit.
We have some settlers already built (and have already captured Satsuma).
Representation makes it a bit easier to research Paper-Education (lightbulb)-Liberalism for Free Speech.

Warring against Mali/Inca is a good way to make sure their population doesn't get too high - we have a little bit in hand, but with starvation culture we might need the extra cushion.

Kyoto might also want artists, in case it can pop another GA.

AD1575:

We revolt to Caste System + Representation, and with the artists hired to pop strategic borders, we make 900bpt at 0%. That goes into Paper.
We land 18 Grenadiers on a hill next to Vilcabamba, with several promoted to Guerilla II, the others down the combat line. We're not getting massacred this time.
The Malinese stack needs one more turn to heal, and some extra units drop in from the sea.

IBT:
Several Cuirassiers and Maces suicide on our Incan stack, without success.
Mansa and Huayna learn Rifling.

AD1580:
Yes, you read that right. We advance on Djenne anyway. The Incan stack stay's put on the hill, waiting for the siege to arrive.
We settle a couple of cities - Pataliputra south of Osaka, Southend east of London, and Rowan's Revenge south of Canterbury.
We lightbulb Education; Liberalism is due in 1. Don't worry. I won't switch to FR.

IBT:
Our Incan stack is routed again. :mad:
At least we took some units with us this time, but we won't be establishing an beachhead any time soon - we just don't have the units.
Our reinforcements will instead head north to Mali.

We learn Liberalism. I'll leave a couple of Frigates down by the Inca just in case he gets any funny ideas about landing on our side of the water.

We destroy a couple more cuirassiers in Mali, and start to bombard Djenne. We don't have the unit mass to attack without bombarding.
We also settle Derby, west of Nottingham, and capture Sakae to top 1000 tiles.
Steel is learnt.

AD1595:
I attack Djenne, killing most of its units. There are still a few left, but we should be able to capture it in the next turn or two.
We know Printing Press now.

AD1600:
We learn Replaceable Parts, and capture Djenne. Nottingham is out of revolt; Just Warwick to go.
We revolt to Free Speech and Pacifism.
Persepolis chops a Settler for Djenne-W.

AD1605:
I plant the culture bomb in Southend. The citizens there are completely taken aback at the idea of "culture".
I think we'll trigger Domination on the inter-turn.

AD1610:
We win!
Gandhi wins a Domination Victory worth 185701 points. Somehow I don't think we'll win the Wooden Spoons.

About 8 - basically waiting for Warwick to come out of revolt.
Okay. I got the impression you might be planning to drag it out by trying to expand some cities culture to 100 rather than just palnting more settlers. As long as you've got it optimzied, sounds great.

Yeah - with Liberalism it'll take a new city 3 turns to reach 100 culture (2 free sistine artists + the citizen artist).
If the warring goes well and I can lop off a bunch of culture before then, I will, but otherwise I'm fairly settled.
 
I didn't know that we'd be teching as far as Liberalism, but if we can do, please DO NOT switch Civics into Free Religion, as doing so is banned for Laurel attempts:

It's all over. Gandhi won a Domination victory in AD1610, after spreading BuddhHinduism to the world.

Our culture took over the entire donut, and one tile of Mansa's former land :rolleyes:
