In other words, they are doing very little to fix the mistakes they made going from Civ4 to Civ5. Most of the push in the PR release is that this is going to be a 'more beautiful Civ'.
To me, Civ keeps getting blander and less and less interesting. I'm usually bored stiff by a game of Civ-BE. And since SMAC was a favorite, they should have had an easy score against me on that one. But, its boring. Usually I'm beating the AI's that seem to get worse and worse the more the 'art department' is in charge of making things 'beautiful'.
In other words, no sign of any hope that a game will come along to replace Civ4. At least not yet, and certainly not from these people who don't seem to even have a clue.
