Then we have some other guys not so well remembered ~ Leopold of Belgium (can't recall if he made it to the 20th century). Castro really doesnt fit on the list. Aside from being painted as evil by americans, Castro really hasnt been in the same class in terms of repression, murder etc as some of these guys.

Diktaattoripörssi - Stock of Dictators 2002 (TM) (C) (R)
is not ranking it's dictators by body piles.
It's a strange mix of reputation, strangeness, madness and evilness.

And if Simon Darkshade will go and spam here saying that I can't spell right,
just die out Simon, this is an INTERNATIONAL forum.

Pol pot, definitely. He hated all people who had even just a tiny fragment of education and wanted to turn his country into a stone-age slave society.

I'm surprised that nobody has voted for Khomeini.

Anyone else hear the sound of the broken record?
Juizy, my dear love, the funny thing is that you go to such vehment lengths to defend yourself over a post which does not contain any spelling mistakes. Talk about jumping the gun.
Stop taking it so personally, even though it is meant that way.;)

And what about Caucescu? He was WEIRD.

Or one can vote for his wife, Elena, who was an absolute weirdo. Some say that she was the one who really ran the country. There was a joke about her:

"Who is the best chessmaster in the world?"
"Elena"
"Why?"
"Because she can keep a whole country in check with one pawn"
:)
(In Hungarian we use the same word for the the 'pawn' in check and for a quite degrading version of 'peasant'.)

This is probably not a coincidence!

Hmmm - there are a lot of rumors about her. But a fact is for sure : her obsesion to develop prioritary the chemistry industry and especially the oil-related industry had caused big trouble for Romania since 1980 ....
