The Great Wonders and Projects Thread

I'll write more about my next steps after 1.15 is released.

Artist specialists tend to be not so useful towards the end of the game. I suggest that there should be am industrial or global wonder that increases the output of artist specialists, similar to existing or suggested wonders for priests, scientists and engineers. For instance, +1 production (or more?) per artist. (Perhaps associated with +1 free artist.)

This could be assigned to the Sagrada Familia (more interesting than the marble/stone suggested effect) or the Sydney Opera House (though some of the other suggested effects here are also nice) or some new wonder.

In my Australian modcomp I included the Sydney Opera house, which give 1 :) per culture level in all cities. (Similar to the National Theatre, but applied to all cities)

Extra production for Artist would fit the Sydney Opera house as well, but I think that more happiness is more useful for Australia, as there aren't that many happiness resources in that area. I'm also think of changing on of its UHV, which the extra happiness will sync with very nicely.

Amber Room (Geology, requires Protestantism) [Germany]
[no art yet]
+2 golden age turns per defensive pact

Alternative proposition (if it is not too late):

Amber Room (Geology, requires Protestantism and Orthodoxy) [Germany/Russia], Baltics region (from Koenigsberg to St.Petersburg) should be core for both religions.
AR works as Administrative Center, and as Palace for all civics that affect capital yields (+50% hammers and gold with Centralism etc)

So, if AR is build in Russian St.Peterburg - it represents capital role of St.Petersburg in the period of empire, and "second capital" status in soviet and post-soviet Russia.
If AR is build in Prussia, in Koenigsberg - it represents historical role of Koenigsberg as first Prussian capital.

I agree. Actually I was also considering +1 food per artist for Khajuraho because it fits the fluff, but production and commerce would also make sense for these modern wonders. I think in general changes specialist yields are an underused concept for wonders. By the way, the idea behind the effects for marble and stone was motivated by how Sagrada Familia was actually built using these materials and how they are otherwise useless by that point.

Speaking of the Sagrada Familia, apparently there is this
I know, I'm the one who pushed for that model because I think it's a shame that this modern wonder didn't exist in Civ4. Now we only need Delta/Zuiderzee Works ;)

I don't know if that's powerful enough considering the distances involved.

Right, that's a good point. I'm trying to think of another modern wonder for which this effect would fit. Maybe the Las Vegas Strip?

It could also have both. I always thought just the resource bonus was a bit weak.

I didn't, they all happened in Greece, that's not very interesting.

Classic youtien.
