Theory: 2K parent company pulled the plug

Just a quick theory that I had and you might think is interesting.

The Illuminati overlord that owns the 2K company pulled the plug on Civ V because A) He needs all his money diverted to 2012 operations and B) He realized that ET contact in the next year or two will totally invalidate the idea of "civilization" as being "ours" in any case.
