Updated Plans for DoC 1.18

The 1700 AD scenario is now (mostly) a thing again.

I created this after hitting Germany in my list of civs to work on (i.e. 1700 AD). There are a few things missing from the scenario, but after that it is back to the few remaining civs. So an end of this stage of development is in sight.

Very exciting! Just out of curiosity, why did you put Breslau instead of Prague? Prague has historically been more significant and populated.

I think he means that, given the history of DOC's development cycles, 8+ more months of playtesting before 1.18 goes public is entirely within the realm of possibility.

I'd like to believe that 1.18 is coming out sooner than later, but it'll be ready when it's ready. I am beyond excited for the possibilities the big map will open up.
Here waiting for as much as needed. Absolutely sure that 1.18 would be a pure gold, especially excited for new civilizations added

Holy Rome founds it sometimes.

BTW, how do you feel about adding some folk music to the Renaissance and Industrial European soundtrack for 1.18?

For example (instrumental)

Or if lyrics are okay (I think this song is gorgeous, couldn't find an instrumental version)

Just a note for historical accuracy. The city of Budapest is ought to be called "Buda" before 1873. Budapest came to existence after the unification of Buda, Pest and Obuda in 1873.

That Caribbean screenshot confirms something I'd been thinking about for a historical Spanish game: you're going to have to control Jamaica in order to control all of Cuba's 5 tiles. It make sense in an abstract way, Jamaica was always a knife at Spain's Caribbean throat in the 1600s.and 1700s. Don't let those pesky Anglos take it!

I am actually considering to fudge the location of Havana 1E to avoid this strange situation.

you can't just ask someone why they're green

Would putting two cities in Cuba (e.g. Havana and Santiago de Cuba) to prevent non-Spanish cultural expansion reaching it in the 1700 AD scenario be too much of a financial drain for Spain?

It looks so great! I might take leave from work when 1.18 is released because I'm aching to play this awesome map and the new civs!

I would argue it's not necessary. Jamaica having those tiles make it a more worthwhile city and doesn't make Cuba OP. But I've always been one to encourage a less concrete reflection of history, so I'm clearly biased.
