+ I love how varied and well rendered is this piece. Dramatic in the beginning, tense in the middle and mysterious in the end, it's like no other american war theme -except maybe for the black sheep that is Pacal's music, but that one stands in the opposite side of quality.

- Why the G&K and BNW themes last only three minutes? Maria Theresa's piece is somewhat decent, but ends soon. And is too light for my taste.

+ I will insist with Persia, but I was amazed when I listened to the full track. The first time I paid attention only to the beginning, and it's true that it sounds too slow. But the full track is full of anguish, like no other in the collection. Forget about every tune being pompous and "fun", we have a beautiful composition in here. Listen to it once again.

- Oh, the celts, the celts. I know it's purportedly based in a memorable and cinematic theme, but this doesn't reflect on the track. If you make me listen to it without knowing it's Boudicca's tune, I would say it's just another generic (and not particularly good) war track.

+ My vote for Askia won't change the fact that it will be probably eliminated on the next round, but I love this theme so much I can't help but choose it. It sounds like a lurking menace, with a great atmosphere. Not every war track should be triumphant (like the awesome zulu example) nor pompous. This is a subtle one. I love the vocals, by the way.

- I was about to downvote America, because I had only heard the first seconds and sounded like a cheap soundtrack to a war film. But then I listened more carefully and I liked the tone. So, with so little bad tracks to eliminate, I'll aim my arrows to Morocco's chaotic track. As I said before, it's like three tunes playing together at the same time and having a bad time trying to make a connection between them.

I've never participated in one of these elimination threads, and I am the sort of person who generally prefers to upvote things I like than downvote things I don't like. Also, I really like most CiV music anyway. It's mainly a matter of degree; I just like some themes more than others. Add to that the fact that there are, not one, but several themes I really like (and several I'm not so fond of, but again, I prefer to upvote than downvote).

But with all that said, I might as well take part in this one and leave my mark.

+ Like I said, there're many themes I want to upvote, but since I have to choose one at a time - this. I mean seriously. I'm listening to this on YoutubeRepeat right now and looping it on my mp3 player. 'Nuff said.

- Only downvoting because it doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for in a war theme. I guess the nice thing about Persia's theme is that it seems more to depict the sadness of war, as opposed to most other civs' war themes, which depict the glory of war and/or the power of their civilization (and the Zulu war theme, which is actually happy). However, even though I am not a warmonger, I prefer to listen to the more glorious/menacing-sounding themes, so yeah.

+ Well, this is my last chance to save Askia. Currently, I'm playing as him in the Africa map, with all other African civs (Egypt, Carthage, Morocco, Zululand, Ethiopia and me -surprisingly enough, the first four appeared in their real life starting locations). When a war erupted between Shaka and me, I LOVED the contrast of the music. The clearly superior impis were attacking my cities while their sinister and energetic chants were echoing in the air. But my mandekalus stroke back with our own brooding, heroic war theme sounding while I tried to liberate Ethiopia. It was an amazing moment, and I think Songhai's music reflected perfectly the drama and menace of the situation.

- I don't want to seem obssesed with Boudicca's tracks, but this one is unimpressive. I'd like a war theme that helps me imagine hordes of celtic warriors descending upon unready roman cities; I want to imagine Julius Caesar having a difficult battle against the gauls. Instead, I receive this brief and common music, full of drum rolls but lacking in spirit.
